I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

Good God. That's ~104°F. This is both shocking and, yet, completely expected. This sort of warming is in line with what climate scientists have warned about for many years (albeit at the upper end of the range of many projections).

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

I'm of the opinion that a Democrat would be able to win. Specifically, the Democrat named Beshear. But instead he's apparently chosen a quixotic campaign for president.

Beshear: "There's an argument that August 3 is a date where I could not later call a special. Those that are really pushing this are under the impression a Dem might be able to win. It's been since '92 that we had a Dem senator in KY ... not having McConnell show up isn't necessarily a bad thing"
