I get that separating stormwater and sewage has prevented unsanitary and odorific overflow in other cities, but I'd like to see some data on whether Nashville sewage even stinks before we invest more in these costly reforms.

I know no one does the reading/listening but if you go back and listen to old country there is a.) A lot more sad, slow, and not particularly interesting love songs than anyone remembers (hi Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold) b.) way more weirdness and narrative than you think (HARPER VALLEY PTA BABY)

What should I listen to tonight? I'll go with the first album named.
Stories about people and communities doing things for climate and the environment are important not because these efforts are enough by themselves, but because they signal to likeminded people that there are others like them.
🚨JOSH KERR 3:42.66 TO BREAK THE MILE WORLD RECORD🚨 FIRST PERSON IN HISTORY TO RUN A 3:42 MILE!!!!
3:42.66 First time the mile record has come down this century. Full body goosebumps.
They don't know the men's mile record could fall for the first time in 27 years tomorrow.

What dictates these lists but rarely gets named: separation from traffic. If your restaurant is on a two-lane road or patrons can get to the back of the building, you're two picnic tables and a $100 garden center gift card away from having a great patio. If not, you'll never be on this list.
I do not believe that 81% of fatal crashes in the Southeast only involved vehicles traveling at or below the speed limit.
SLOW DOWN! "...almost 30 percent of the nation’s traffic fatalities in 2024 involved speeding and it was a factor in 19 percent of fatal traffic crashes in the Southeast from 2020 to 2024." - @nashvillebanner.bsky.social
Every year I watch the home run derby and say, "I could do better than these guys," and I'm always talking about the pitchers.
For the past month it's been "win or go home," but all four remaining teams get two more games no matter what. Now they can play with the pressure off.
We have been loving these bulb-outs! They're beautiful, really high-quality, and make the streets safer for everyone.
Big thanks to everyone who's helped and supported the East End tactical urbanism project! It's already making a big difference and still getting better every day. The first bike racks start going in tomorrow. Hit me up if you can come help any time btw now and Saturday!

It's bad, but nothing you can't fix by firing board members from your local electric utility.
I assumed everyone knew this was predicted to occur when they sacked 50% of the NOAA staff and started canceling weather balloons that collect data last year; but if not. 👇
Before this World Cup I only knew Owen Hargreaves from his old NBA dot com blog, which is somehow even worse than I remember. web.archive.org/web/20120208...

We rarely hear even the bass from concerts at Nissan here--maybe once every three or four years. Tonight I can make out Alan Jackson's stage banter.
This side of the river really needed some beautification. Glad to help.
I knew I should have printed these up.

It's not what you do, but what my friends say about you on the internet, that defines you.
imagine being bill deblasio and seeing everyone saying mamdani is a political genius and uniquely effective because he got the Rent Guidelines Board to do a 0% increase
Teaching high schoolers ca. 2009, the divide was Katy Perry fans and Swifties.
I teach 12 year olds in a soccer obsessed nation (no specifics, want to keep my job) and it is wild how stark the Messi-Ronaldo split is. All the bad kids, the troublemakers, the kids that you just know are gonna grow up to be crappy adults: they all like Ronaldo. The good kids like Messi.
What kind of company do you even hire to help move loads like this?
