Build the downtown bike lanes. Personal vehicles just don’t fit downtown, not to mention the safety risks they impose.

I'm really tired of the "this wasn't preventable" dialogue because the driver is said to have had a medical episode. 1) The investigation is still ongoing and the cause hasn't been determined 2) If the 4th Ave intersection was closed, the driver would have been elsewhere with a lot less ped traffic

Here is a monthly summary of fatal crashes, and non-fatal pedestrian and bicyclist traffic crashes in Davidson County for July 2026. Robert Powell, Bankole Olupinla, Jaime Magsam, Mikel Holder, Deandera Lovell, Jason Bungarz-Kinney, Madeline Mitchell, and a motorcyclist all lost their lives.

If this were an ebike, they'd be banned by cities across the country immediately. Instead, it's just another deadly day in vehicular violence and it will be forgotten about by the next 24 hour news cycle.

I am really really afraid that one of my friends will be killed by a driver of a vehicle while walking or biking. We continue to see the most ardent advocates working to build safer cities die on streets like in Boston and Chicago.
This is ridiculous. Shame on NDOT for getting rid of the loading zone on the way down Demonbruen hill. I watched two Lime bike riders get forced into traffic because of this.
I will continue to be a broken record that says “a clean and safe downtown means pedestrians don’t die when visiting.”
Cycling with your child is dangerous. Putting my toddler on the back of my bike has resulted in a new obsession with fire hydrants, and now I have to talk about them 12 hours a day.
Everyone should be able to walk/bike across the street without fearing for their life. Yet Nashville continues to see pedestrians killed while crossing our roads. No turn on red is a proven step that can help prevent these tragedies. We’ve studied the issue long enough. It’s time to act.

Audit results: 20 flex posts down or missing, right after NDOT went through and replaced a bunch recently. We should save everyone a lot of work and just replace all of these with concrete.

A great example of why the "make eye contact with drivers and wear reflective clothing" advice for pedestrians and cyclists is bad. Nothing short of physically limiting where and how drivers can operate their vehicles will work.

Wild that people think we need six lanes on East Bank boulevard for stadium traffic when the mass traffic plan for stadium events is: ban cars from getting anywhere near the stadium.

A theme here is that if a person inside city government intervenes on behalf of a restaurant losing parking spots or a random driver getting a parking ticket, that's seen as constituent services. If another government insider works on behalf of keeping people alive, that's seen as advocacy.
