I already feel like my cognition isn't as good as I'd like it to be; you can take my critical thinking and problem solving skills away from me over my dead body genai.

"Let's make our supporters terribly unhappy, in the hopes of winning over some conservatives" has been such a winner of a strategy for the democratic party after all, why not gamble your business on it.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Doing Facebook ads and it OF COURSE keeps pushing AI at me at every step (targetting, translations, graphics, copy, literally every single step) but this is one of its suggested graphics where it says (with caveats) that I *could* get 10% higher click through with AI-generated images.

An absolutely butchered graphic that says Mafia romune king! in a speech bubble and "Obsessed with the spaie" over top of the text in the bottom corner where it's also repeated kindleunlimited twice, it's awful and ugly slop. The original image that I uploaded that has a couple embracing in the background along with a cover and a trope list that doesn't have random letters and speech bubbles mangling everything.

I swear, the loudest segment of the anti-IP law crowd just want to abolish copyright so they can have a future where all media is legal fanfiction of major IP. And that's it.

I don’t tell people what they should or shouldn’t read but I do think it might be a good day to keep in mind that the New York Times is a violently anti-queer organization that primarily exists to launder fascism to credulous libs. Just something to remember if helpful!

I am so damn sick of the "we have to do something to protect children online though" debate, that assumes this requires inconveniencing everyone else to some degree. Just institute rules at the purchase level. Oh this phone is for a kid? Parental controls are activated by default. Done.

I was there at MUN the night three anti-genocide activists got arrested. The Chair of the University’s Board also called the parent of a protestor. Never been so ashamed of my Alma mater.

New reporting from @breachmedia.ca shows that Canadian universities operated a secret national effort to coordinate surveillance and policing of anti-genocide activism and encampments. breachmedia.ca/canadian-uni...

Long before "AI" LLMs entered the public consciousness, studies showed that people were easily manipulated by praise from a computer, EVEN WHEN WARNED IT WOULD BE A MEANINGLESS LIE! Humans are not built for this crap. Government should be protecting people from exploitation and manipulation.
