They have thought of it before, that's why there's a law against it.
Rachel Campos-Duffy on Trump's $5k offer to voters if they vote Republican: "This just shows how creative and rule-breaking and out of the box President Trump is. I'm surprised nobody has thought of this before."

maybe I'm biased (by teaching climatology last semester) but it's so weird seeing people arguing about the dangers of AI in a "robots kill you, singularity!" sci-fi sense, some sort of future possible danger and not this immediate threat to our livable planet
"By the end of 2030," reports NYT, the amount of energy used by data centers"is expected to quadruple, eclipsing the power used by all countries in South America and Africa combined." This is extinctionism.
There’s such an easy answer to this “gotcha” question and it’s “Sports are inherently unsafe and unfair and it’s ridiculous to single out trans athletes when we allow 150 pound linebackers to go up against 260 pound linemen in freshman football on a daily basis. Let kids play with their friends.”
Talarico: "I oppose trans athletes playing in girls' sports if it endangers safety or fairness"
"Welcome to my childhood dream," Dave Grohl, before he melted our faces for an hour as the opener for AC/DC.
Tonight's agenda: AC/DC and a little known opener, Foo Fighters.
Re-upping this thread (more below) in light of today’s SCOTUS ruling. No religion actually opposes vaccination, and they are actually quite explicit about it! www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Supreme Court declines Catholic mother’s bid for son’s vaccine exemption in N.Y.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a New York woman's bid to send her son to kindergarten without state-mandated vaccines, a requirement that she claimed infringed on her religious rights.

The myth of “religious exemptions:” While there are many different anabaptist groups, none of their doctrine opposes or forbids vaccination. The Mennonite Church USA (largest Mennonite denomination) even has guidance recommending not taking “religious exemptions” & following vaccine recommendations

"It is now the least rewarding time to be a worker in the U.S. economy since the government started keeping track... In other words, even as the economy continues to grow, worker pay comprises an ever smaller slice of the pie." [paywall] www.nbcnews.com/business/eco...
American workers are getting the smallest slice of the pie on record
Since 2000, the value of the S&P 500 stock index has gained about 600%. Over the same period, inflation-adjusted worker earnings have climbed just 12.5%.

I'd be curious to know how many heat-related incidents they had to deal with yesterday at Kinnick. I know of several. I wonder if the volume or severity was the reason they were actively encouraging fans to leave and had the Marching Band cancel their performance.
I went out to water my plants and didn't immediately start sweating. Why couldn't we have had this weather yesterday?
reminder that his folksy "aww shucks" routine is an act. this man got his law degree at oxford university (UK, not Miss.) and his undergrad at vanderbilt.
Sen. John Kennedy on Hegseth: "I voted for him. I'd probably vote for him again until evidence is shown to be that he shouldn't have fired these guys."
I’m surprised he didn’t say “I’m the WHAT secretary? Isn’t ‘secretary’ a girl job? And what even IS energy?”
BASH: Gas prices Labor Day weekend are the highest on record. Isn't it possible gas prices could go up even more? CHRIS WRIGHT: I don't want to have an opinion on that BASH: As the energy secretary, shouldn't you have an opinion? WRIGHT: If I had to guess, they are more likely to go down than up
Routine reminder that Bhattacharya is an economics researcher who has never practiced medicine and whose best known publication is overtly fraudulent. He has never done infectious disease research and has never treated a single virus or infection in his entire career. He’s likely never seen measles.
NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya defends measles on Fox News and condemns Gov. Shapiro for "playing this out over the airwaves for political purposes, just like what happened during covid. And this is why there's such deep distrust in public health."
In some ways, replay has sucked a lot of joy out of things. And I guess you're not supposed to trust what you see on the field because there's secret clocks or cameras somewhere?
That was rough. If my seats hadn't been in the shade, I'm not sure i would've made it.
We tailgate inside until little while ago. And it's not fun out here. This heat is no joke.

IDK, do middle school football players need to be in full pads and helmets for practice when it's 80 degrees out during an extreme heat warning? Maybe we've lost the plot.
