*standing up on the plane* Star Trek: Deep Space Nine remains one of the best sci-fi shows because of its embrace of complicated characters, moral ambiguity under the surface of what others see as a utopian mission statement, and a standard twenty episode season giving the show a chance to breathe.

Been screaming this for so long. The anti-AI crowd needs to direct even half of their hatred for AI into an actual love for art.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

everyone talking about the odyssey reminds me of the most important lesson i ever learned in criticism

I know plenty of good looking cis people, but I've never seen someone transition and look *worse*.

The worst part of watching The Odyssey in an average 2.35:1 theater is that Christopher Nolan put all the important stuff in the top and bottom of the IMAX 70MM footage. Almost caught a glimpse of Tom Holland's face, but I mostly just saw water.

Disappointed that Nolan's Odyssey features no Irish actors and has abandoned the original Dublin setting

Dear Andy Serkis: Hobbits aren't real. Nowhere in the Lord of the Rings did Tolkien say "every single hobbit in the Shire is white." Also, if he did, hobbits aren't real. It won't destroy your story, which again, is fiction, to have some Black and Brown hobbits. Sincerely, Sheryl

Reading Ulysses while knowing nothing about it is kinda fun. Like, alright, Steven left Buck's place, now who's this Bloom guy? Oh! It's newspaper headlines and short sections now. What? Stevens back?? And it looks like it turns into a play in like 50 pages???

Shout-out to TV shows that start with an 8 episode season, increase to 10 or 12 episodes over the middle of their run, then suddenly end with a 6 episode season.

The idea of a cinematic universe is really not compelling. If you have a good movie idea, just make it. The obligation to create a film slate just to make a specific movie is kinda lame. If DC has a good idea for, say, a Justice League movie, there's no need to make other films as build up.
