I am a queer, poly parent and community college STEP coach. I also wrote Forgotten All-Star: A Biography of Gardner Fox! My next big project is a biography for Jerry Bails, who is often referred to as the father of comic book fandom.
My 19 year old is making plans to watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day with his bestie and joyfully asked me if I wanted to join. I said, “Sure!” And his bestie's response was, “Hell yeah.” I love that they still want to hang out with me now that they are all grown up. 🥰
Also, Alex Grand saying he had never thought about the theme of justice in relation to Gardner Fox’s stories is a clear indicator that my work isn't out there enough! I talk about it quite a bit in Forgotten All-Star: A Biography of Gardner Fox. 😉

On the letters page, Gruenwald pays tribute to the late Gardner Fox.
It started with the cover, which Fox used to work up a possible story synopsis that could explain why there were two Flashes. Fox had been playing with the idea of multiple Earths going all the way back to his first short story, “Weirds of the Woodcarver,” from 1944.

I had a dream I was at some kind of a swimming event and Alan Ritchson was there. It had me excitedly speculating about him possibly getting cast as Aquaman again when he disappeared to get into costume. Then, my alarm went off. I feel robbed twice over now. And I am genuinely grumpy about it. 😂
It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society
I had a great time moderating the Gardner Fox panel with pals, David Armstrong, Bill Field, Phil Nelson, Lenny Schwartz and grandkids, Terri and Greg Fox. We brought some much needed appreciation and acknowledgement to the Golden Age comic book writer and creator at San Diego Comic Con 2026.

Bill Schanes recently bought his Bud’s Art Books & joined us. Bud and I have been friends for 8 years and he’s been in comics for more than 50. I celebrated both.
I just found out that Andréa Gilroy won the 2026 Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award!! Well earned!! 🎉🎉
The episode of X-Men ‘97 I was most excited for this season was Danger.exe because I really wanted to see how they would adapt it, but, upon reflection, it felt just as off as the rest of this season. Charles is saying what Emma should be saying and Jean is doing what Ororo should be doing. 🤷

Today is the birthday of Max Fleischer (July 19, 1883-Sept. 11, 1972), cartoonist, animator, inventor, director, & producer.
Today would have been 10 years since Miss Mustachio chose us. We scattered her in the garden she loved. Lavender, rose, and rosemary for peace, love, and remembrance. We then played the game of Magic from when we drafted with her. She always loved getting pets between the passing of turns/cards. 🥹
2027 has my eye. As a merfolk player, I'm excited by the play/art possibilities in the underwater Nauctis: The Sunken Realm and cannot wait to learn more about what's been happening on the now-turned Afrofantasy plane of Zhalfir. Joven and Chandler feels like a cherry on top. Please be good. 🤞

These two side characters in a Gardner Fox Justice Society comic are delightful and should be in more books. That's Johnny Thunder under the hose, because naturally that's Johnny Thunder knocked out and being hosed.
