In early 19th-century Pennsylvania, a recently-widowed pregnant woman battles her narcissistic mother for control of her inheritance as she transforms a derelict iron mill into an iron-clad legacy for her daughters & forges a path as America's first woman industrialist. #Q #A #HF Bio #HFic #questpit

When I was a little girl, I remember the church minister saying "The devil won't be red with horns. He will be attractive." As a young woman, I learned that attractive men often tell you what you want to hear. As an adult, I know that men that tell you what you want to hear always want to harm you.
He was actually very clear about what he was going to do. Maybe you should have leveled with your constituents about what you were supporting bsky.app/profile/phil...
The Dems better be making campaign ads out of this...
Mike Johnson just told you the quiet part out loud: Republicans have a plan to gut Social Security next year. They’re waiting until after the midterms so you can’t vote against it. Don’t let them wait you out. Make this an issue that matters this November. #HandsOffSocialSecurity
Advanced praise for Tinker from the Historical Novel Society, Historical Fiction Company, and a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐review from Readers' Favorite! So honored that Tinker has been so loved. No other book of mine has enjoyed such glowing early praise. Can't wait for the Whiskey Rebellion to land in readers' hands.
An incredible review for Tinker from the Historical Fiction Company. I can't wait to share this with the world! ARCs are currently on NetGalley. Link and pre-orders available at the link in bio.
If I could go back and tell 22 year old me that I would only use my new history of religion degree to go viral talking about the Avignon Papacy on the internet while publishing a novel about the Whiskey Rebellion as our country plummets into a dark ages... 22 year old me would ask for a stiff drink.

I just cannot understand why I am supposed to WANT to celebrate my birthday with people who keep voting to end my life.
When you justify killing someone because they're bad, you move the scale on what "bad" is. Because the worst one is now gone and the system to do it again is already built. And once you justify killing one "bad man," you become the arbiter of capital justice. The absolute power corrupts absolutely.
“man bad, we killed man, that makes us good” is real baby-brained stuff
I can't be the only one who needs a new way to describe this feeling of impending doom. "Impending doom" just doesn't fit anymore
"Do something useful with this stick I'm beating you with or I will be forced to beat this dead horse instead." Okay, dude.
I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud
Yet again, Ken Jennings is right.

The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.
This woman's cries have carved something out of me and made me really, really raw in a way I can't describe. I'm furious. I'm so damn furious.
“They just killed that lady right there. They shot her in the head, bro.” A neighbor films the aftermath of Trump’s ICE goons murdering an innocent woman in Minneapolis.
This reminds me of the Amy Poehler podcast conversation with Julia Louis-Dreyfus about how many pics they have on their phones. Except the 72k pics on my phone are all different angles of my cat.
🚨 BREAKING: Oversight Dems received 95,000 new photos from Jeffrey Epstein's estate. These disturbing images raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world. Time to end this White House cover-up. Release the files!
Is this the script to the next season of The Diplomat? Ugh.
This isn’t exactly treason, but it’s edging close to the line.
I hope she knows that the government IS the people, and the ones who hold power are there by our will and consent, and when we no longer want them there, we will remove them from office because that's how this works. No matter the form of government, tyrants always fall.
Epstein survivor: "Today we stand in a moment that will decide whether our government still belongs to the American people or to those who prey on them."

For the first time since September of 2023, the life of Rebecca Lukens isn’t playing out in my head and fighting for word count. What she bought. Who she hired. Work she did. Her fears, her debts, her hopes and failures. It's really strange to put the manuscript in someone else's hands.
Step 1) Privatize local hospital 2) Bankrupt hospital. 3) Close hospital. 4) St Luke's (or comp) swoop in. 5) Women and trans people lose care.
The bishops' decision formalizes a yearslong process for the U.S. church to address transgender health care. They also approved a special message on immigration, expressing concern over enforcement and conditions in detention centers. n.pr/4hTblhM
"I do not need to write coherently or communicate well because it is your responsibility to figure out what I am saying," is such a guy thing. Women (who ruin the workplace) know.

Watching the cable news commentary on the bullet engravings is wild because none of these people seem to realize that the content of the engravings are indicative of extremely online meme brain rot
This is an important thread. It seems weirdly disrespectful to try to turn Kirk into something he clearly despised.
As someone who spent many hours listening to Kirk’s show on AM radio, I would say that he made Rush Limbaugh seem like Walter Cronkite by comparison, in terms of rhetorical tone and empirical rigor. The subtext of every show was “You don’t hate the left enough.”
/4 But it’s perfectly reasonable to point out that the people who will wave the bloody shirt over this — the people who support Charlie Kirk — are evil hypocrites who endorse and excuse violence every day. Refraining from celebrating doesn’t mean tolerating bullshit. bsky.app/profile/thre...
You’re not wrong. At all. I just think people are also tired of being lectured about this. And that’s where a lot of the anger stems from, unfortunately, in the people’s feeds that are preaching it. Every single time a shooting happens — which happens alot now. Sigh.
