It seems that like Luxon, Brownlee is scared of Peters. Of course, he should be censured. Other MPs have been censured for much lesser crimes, like calling someone a liar or doing a haka. But Winston can blurt out anything he wants and get away with it. Double standards.
Supplementary to the Prime Minister- have you instructed or in any way implied to the Speaker - your list MP - that he apply a different standard to Winston Peters behaviour in Parliament? #nzpol

“The Greens had written to the Speaker and met with him “multiple times” about the “demonstrable fact” there was uneven standards being applied.” These uneven standards are what sexism & racism look like - it’s disturbing Parliament alongside mainstream media can’t muster the energy to call it out.

Chlöe Swarbrick and NZ Greens with one of the most important messages for the public to note ahead of the upcoming election in Aotearoa.
Placing bets now that if you’re a woman who has experienced misogyny in New Zealand you’ll know exactly what this is.

Sometimes I wonder about the impact of politicians and media treating Ardern with such misogynistic contempt for years on end and it’s pretty frightening to consider that all that energy didn’t die when Ardern left, and is now funneled into policy, and misogyny/ racism is normalised (and rewarded).
Show up as the IT guy, turn it off and refuse to turn it on again until they agree to vote Green
show up with the double glazed joinery and tell em you won't install until they agree to vote green
The modern far Right are definitely using the Nazis' playbook. It's frustrating for those with any understanding of history to see this unfold, and I invite anyone to scan down this list of the Early Warning Signs of Fascism based on a 2003 article written by Laurence Britt to see what's happening.
Living on this planet, especially as a member of a privileged society, our lives are intimately bound with the lives of others, including those who live thousands of miles away. We cannot excuse ourselves from the responsibilities we owe to each other.
to be fair, when credit flows are turning negative, and govt is shovelling cash to savers (vs spenders), RBNZ are tightening, Govt are fishkully frugal, and offshore prices are not letting up... the prediction is easy.
Nonsense. RBNZ estimated in May that the oil price shock would lead to higher unemployment for longer (yellow line) but today's data was worse than expected (again!) The trouble is the reckonomists believe their own recovery hype.
Lol Brian Tamaki whinging that people are taking his "spiritual warfare " prayers seriously. He's basically saying it should be treated like a furious toddler saying they wish their parents were dead. Which, y'know, is kinda legit but its funny he admits it.
RNZ framing this as a wily Peters evading comments, rather than as a coward who refused to answer questions and abused the rules of the house to do so is just par for the course in the current media environment, sadly
And, the young folk are being left to rot here. Seriously... more than 1 in 3 young people wanting work or more work. WTAF. So, I say it again... is there nothing that needs doing? Have we got all the infra we need? Are our schools rich in support people? Jeez. [Ends]
Worth look at the number of people looking for work or more work by ethnicity. Look at the growth rates for Maori and Pacific - can you see slowing growth? Nah. [4/n]
You will hear a lot about the south island-led boom. Yeah, nah. Sure, the north island is in a world of crap, but the south island is just less crap. Let's not pretend the folks of southland are lighting cigars with $100 bills. [3/n]
The number of people who want work or more work is now up to 427,000 souls (13.8% of the working age population). That's about 1 in 7 kiwis... Friends, What the actual fk? Is there nothing that needs doing? Who's in charge? [2/n]
Regular viewers will know that I had serious doubts about the 'recovery' well before Trump decided to cause global chaos (and trading opportunities for his buddies). Suffice to say, today's unemployment data is GRIM! Let's have a look... Unemployment rate vs the guesses of clueless ghouls. [🧵 1/n]

All of which would give a far fuller and more accurate picture of what is happening in the mental health space. But no, Doocey just wants his "look good" figures and to blame health professionals if they can't meet his arbitrarily imposed targets 🙄
Wherein Doocey insists on reporting of wait times for mental health services against his targets, but not reporting of: - Number of declined referrals - Number of clinical vacancies in mental health - Wait times for community services (that declined referrals are supposedly sent to)
Fears young people slipping through gaps in mental health data
A vote for National, NZFirst, or ACT is a vote to keep older kiwis in poverty, and to make their poverty worse. This coalition government has actively passed policies that have made things tougher for everyone who isn't in the wealthy donor class. It will only get worse if they are voted back in.
Older Kiwis choosing between 'starving or heating' as price increases bite
Maintaining your existing infrastructure is not “investing”. Fukn power company gaslighting. Not that anyone can afford gas either #nzpol
