I dunno I kinda wanna live in a world where doing this would be considered super embarrassing and disqualifying but apparently you can just do whatever you want: “Christine Drazen… abolish the police… extremist… professed pure hatred for Portland police,… held firm… belief in future without cops…”
How stupid does Christine Drazan and her comms team think voters are? The actual text: "Kotek, who represents North and Northeast Portland, spoke out against police actions that she said 'created an unsafe situation and a public health hazard with their use of CS gas in a residential area.'”

Maybe not the point, but PSA for busy Portland posters: Portland Police Bureau is a bureau, not a department, and is therefore abbreviated to PPB. You might be accidentally posting about Portland Permitting and Development (PPD), which may not be the droids you’re looking for.
Another cool thing about Portland is that a lot of new parks have skate parks built in. Good place to hang, meet nice people, and spend your 40s (in my case) getting back up on the quarter-pipe coping for the first time in 25 years. It’s good to be free. These parks make intentional space for that.

As the paper’s arts & culture editor, I’ve spent years arguing that art is necessary in our lives, so when I met an example of that during a particularly tragic and horrible time, I decided to pony up and write about it.
The Mercury's Fall Arts Issue has arrived, and the theme is "Clowns." Here's why.
