Big nerd. Building things Trump voters: History won’t be kind to you. Neither will I Progress isn’t about making you comfortable

RFKJr claims Lyme disease was created by scientists, which is the closest he’s come to admitting that science exists. Meanwhile, Ötzi the Iceman, who died more than 5.3K years ago, had Lyme disease. Apparently prehistoric humans are part of the conspiracy. Get me off this timeline

Week’s holiday, yay! It’s 30 degrees outside, boo. I know, let’s inhabit a wooden building with portable aircon and work on dead Executels again 🥵 This could also be captioned ‘when logic analysers attack’, in this case on a 74LS240 buffer that may be toast. Not enough space for a test clip, see.

A mess of logic analyser wiring covering the 8085a cpu and data bus buffer that feeds the video chain of an STC Executel 3910 executive telephone from 1983. This machine doesn’t produce video any more so let’s see why not. Because of the tightness of the MR9735-002 videotext display chip, a resistor network and a 74LS240 buffer right next to each other there isn’t space to have an analyser test clip fitted, so I’ve had to use 16 grabbers instead which was NOT tedious and cuss-producing.

(There may have been swears)

come on down to the Vintage Computer Festival West, here in Silicon Valley at the Computer History Museum. Saturday and Sunday, August 1-2! this is the ultra rare 3270 PC (left) and the XT/370 (right).

two beige-box IBM computers. one with a welcome message and the other with a large "VM/PC" logo

Jon Stewart on the WH Correspondents' Dinner: "It shouldn't ever happen... You can celebrate the First Amendment without asking your opponent in that fight what he thinks. You know what he thinks."

I hate the "both sides" narrative of Trump area reporting. "Trumps immigration enforcement are criticized for..." "Their questionable comments about Renee Good..." Sometimes there is only one legitimate side to a story. www.cnn.com/2026/07/22/u...

Yes, I watched the speech last night. No, there were no new revelations that suggested 2020 or any other election was rigged or tampered with. Yes, this is exhausting.
