Real class acts over there. Good thing they’re focusing on the important work of filling their users feeds with newsmax content instead of wasting resources stopping child abuse images in ads.
NEW: Over the last few months, Meta has run dozens of paid ads that included AI-generated CSAM. The ads, some of which were linking out to “nudify” apps, targeted men in the US, UK, and a dozen European countries. Some were running in the last few days
Made my first PR on @tangled.org today. I like the selector at the top to compare across branches vs forks. It was still confusing to me tho.. I started the PR from my fork and thought it would go to upstream when I chose compare forks.
ANNOUNCEMENT: I’ve been working on putting together something between a retreat and a hackathon for #atproto builders for the past several weeks. I’ve been in discussion with potential funders and some funding has become available to make this a reality. now, I need your help!! KEEP READING 👇🏽
bsky needs the ability to mute for a period of time, not forever. mastodon has this and it’s so useful when I need a temporary break. just realized I muted someone last year when they had a particularly prolific posting day and I wanted to see other people in my feed… and then I forgot to undo it.
hell yesssss! I have been thinking about this very same thing from the local community angle. Another thing that keeps people on instagram who don't want to be there is because that's the defacto "website" for many local businesses and groups they want to keep up with.
I'm convinced that there is a huge Atmosphere-sized hole in the personal website market, and here's why that matters👇
Reading @tessa.germnetwork.com's follow-up post got me all misty-eyed in so many places 🥹 I know I'm catching up and y'all have already read this probably, but I just have to leave my reactions anyway because it was sooo good <3
Part II is live now. What comes after social media?

Can y’all stop shipping so much dope shit so that I can catch up? 😅

there are so many things I want to read and respond to, but I have been wiped out for the last few days dealing with a bout of mastitis 😭 breastfeeding is no joke! you can literally injure your boobies bad enough it gives you chills and body aches like having the flu
My baby is having her worst day of teething today during our worst heat wave of the summer… going on 2 hours trying to get her to sleep. How’s your Friday night going? 😅
I'm playing around with @happyview.dev this week and its experimental permissioned data space stuff. It doesn't write any permissioned data to the PDS yet, does it? I'm running a PDS with the permissioned data branch right now for testing, but it doesn't seem like I'll be able to hook that up yet
Said something interesting to a friend today when they asked about different open social web protocols. It might be a little bit controversial, but: I think that ActivityPub is decentralized in principle, whereas AT Protocol is decentralized in practice. 🧵
rhosf.leaflet.pub/3mqsznoy55k2s/ Such an interesting post by @tessa.germnetwork.com! I feel like I have a different perspective on the social network vs. social media terms having lived through that era, but I definitely think about this distinction a lot too!
People, Not Posts
Why do we still call it "social media"?

People today are drowning in awareness of suffering with nowhere productive to put it. This is a problem that social technology research can and should tackle! At our #CSCW2026 workshop, we’ll spend the day exploring how to design toward sustainable care. Apply by Aug 3: positech.github.io/cscw2026
Got my payout from the Facebook consumer privacy class action settlement… that’ll show ‘em!
whew! Okay, I think I've finally fully migrated that account to the PDS I deployed. It failed on setting prefs using goat but finished on PDSMoover.. but for some reason PDSMoover deleted the rotation key I had added as a safety backup before I started the migration. Had to use the recovery key 😬

Glad to see ICE is still only after violent cr…. Sorry what’s that? They’re rounding up mariachi players on Father’s Day, bear spraying into observers cars, driving 80mph down a residential street and doing donuts under the freeway for 15 minutes straight? 👀 www.independent.com/2026/06/22/i...
ICE Conducts Father’s Day Raids on Santa Barbara’s Westside and Eastside
An observer was reportedly bear-sprayed by an ICE agent and as many as 11 individuals, including a U.S. citizen, were detained Sunday morning.

Raising a baby with great musical taste over here! She was not interested in falling asleep to a boring lullaby, but rocked out to some electro-funk in her bouncer and promptly conked out 😂

A couple days of poking around with this off and on in between baby feedings and naps and I've got a production-hardened version working 💪🏻 I decided to play around with deploying to Railway, so I had to do some patching to get email working on the hobby plan (they block SMTP), but smooth otherwise.
Attempting my first PDS deploy today! Anything I should look out for besides the hardening stuff mentioned in the docs?
Being a parent has forced me to use more Meta apps again as so many parent groups are on facebook or whatsapp. I hate it and still try to minimize what I have to participate in, but it just fuels my motivation even more. What we're building here needs to work for parents and families

Today’s musical selection comes courtesy of my recent discovery that the contractor who replaced my roof last fall never got the permit inspections done 🙄🤬
my baby started rolling over, sucking her thumb, AND laughing in the last week !! I think my heart might burst 🥹💞
Wait, did y’all know about the Cursor SpaceX deal? I did not know about the Cursor SpaceX deal 😬 The partnership option seems beneficial, but I hope they are wise enough not to go the full acquisition route.
