An extremely wide panoramic sequence showing the progress of the Moon across the Sun during the solar eclipse of 12 August 2026. Against a completely black background, twenty-three small coral-red solar discs and crescents are arranged at equal intervals in a single horizontal line. From the left, the Sun begins almost complete, with a small dark bite taken from its edge. The Moon progressively covers more of the disc, reducing the visible Sun through a series of increasingly narrow crescents until only a fine curved sliver remains at the centre. The sequence then reverses symmetrically, the crescents gradually widening until the Sun becomes almost complete again at the far right. The original photographs were made at five-minute intervals. The surrounding black space emphasises scale, duration and the measured rhythm of the eclipse.

Black-and-white photograph of dried poppy seed heads and a spider’s web in a sunlit garden. A wide, horizontal black panel titled “Transit of an Eclipse” shows thirteen separate photographs of the partially eclipsed Sun, arranged in a single evenly spaced row. Each exposure appears as a small pale crescent against deep black. From left to centre, the crescent gradually becomes slimmer and rotates downward until it forms a shallow arc near the middle of the sequence. From the centre to the right, the arc thickens again and slowly rotates upward, recording the return of the Sun after maximum eclipse. Black-and-white landscape-format photograph of an antique Tibetan standing bell resting on a patterned circular cushion before a multi-paned window. The broad metal bowl fills much of the lower centre of the frame. Its rim forms a strong dark ellipse, while hard light from the right travels across the outer wall in a long gradation from deep grey to a bright, almost silver highlight. Small irregularities, scratches and changes in tone show the age and worked surface of the metal.

A wooden striker lies diagonally inside the bowl, rising from near the lower centre towards the upper left. The handle is thick, worn and visibly grained, with a pale wrapped section near the point where it crosses the rim. Its diagonal interrupts the bowl’s symmetry and points into the darker upper-left panes of the window. Beneath the bowl, the cushion shows a dense woven pattern of curved leaves, petals and circular forms.

The window provides a simple geometric background of dark horizontal and vertical bars. Beyond the glass, foliage and other outdoor forms are softly blurred. Strong rectangular bands of sunlight fall across the foreground at lower right, while the left side remains substantially darker. The combination of direct light, deep shadow and reflected brightness gives the bell a solid, weighty presence while preserving delicate tonal variation across its surface.

Standing bells are bowl-shaped bells that rest with their open rim uppermost, rather than hanging. Often called singing bowls, they can be sounded by striking the rim or wall with a mallet; some also produce a continuous resonant tone when a wooden or suede-covered striker is moved around the rim. In this photograph the instrument is shown at rest, with its striker laid inside it.
