🏳️‍🌈 cybersecurity engineer deep in the series of tubes former Air Force nuke-minder and satellite-pilot butler/chauffeur for a Golden Retriever

lol cringe, was behind a pickup truck just now flying a Betsy Ross flag from the bed ... with a thin blue line decal, a FOP decal, and a custom license plate "LMGTYR6"

well, I was going to get to bed at a reasonable hour, but then unfortunately my binge-watching of Grimm wound up putting the end of season 4 right before bedtime, so...

oh, I remember this guy running to be my state representative he ran for governor in 2020 and his candidate statement in the voter pamphlet was just the phrase "Stop Seattle / King Fascism with idiotic face!" repeated 25 times

filling out my primary ballot, and, uhhh one moderate Democrat, four Republicans, and a Democrat whose campaign site is focused (in between animated GIFs) on how he was "illegally" fired from NOAA well, guess it's gonna be the moderate Democrat

this is one of the most important Trump policies to address (and one of the most difficult) because if you think as a woman, or a gay person, or an African-American, your career won't progress in the military, you won't join. and in the long run, that creates a military that looks how Trump wants

Senator Elissa Slotkin@slotkin.senate.gov · 6d ago

I am hearing from a ton of people who have been career military officers who are saying, “look if anyone of color or if every woman is being stripped out of these lists, how am I to understand who and how can get promoted.”

all the discourse on cybersecurity models escaping containment and evading detection is indicating to me that people have, uh, very optimistic views about the state of network traffic monitoring at large corporations

starting Lexapro tomorrow, and good Lord, I hope this is the one that works. I'm tired of burning all my mental energy at social events by trying to overengineer all my speech

wedding this afternoon, then my birthday is tomorrow and my parents are helpfully having a party for it, so I'm already preemptively cranky about my complete lack of relaxation time this weekend

logically, I understand that stagnancy is bad and change is inevitable emotionally, I feel boiling rage as I drive through my hometown at a rate of two blocks in 10 minutes and remember that 30 years ago there was zero traffic ever once you got off the freeway

not the most impressive thing AI is doing these days, but today I went to lunch with my coworkers, took a picture of my food and told Claude what it was, and said "update my food tracker to include this, then adjust my meal plan for the rest of the day to still hit my calorie/macro targets"

the vet told him he is handsome and perfect, and she is a medical professional who sees animals all day, so I have no choice but to accept her expert opinion

I like how the Zyrtec label warns ominously that I, a 175lb adult human, must not take more than 1 tablet every 24 hours and my vet is like "yeah, just give your 75lb dog four every morning for a week"

my team is having an onsite this week, which caused me to leave the office later than usual, and good Lord do I hate Seattle drivers

Titan has a lump in his neck, we're headed back to the vet tomorrow to get a cell sample. he's only six. my last dog was six when the pancreatitis hit out of nowhere. I can't do this again.

the good news is that I have worked feverishly for the last week or so and I think I have managed to automate management of my daily to do list the downside is that now I have to actually start doing the things in my backlog, which is unfortunate 😔

if you cut me off in traffic and I have to slam on my brakes, my dog got startled because of you and you should feel bad about that

"... these wait for a human — you or me — and should be allowed to wait indefinitely." excuse me, Claude?

I'd heard of Roko's Basilisk here and there, but never bothered to go look up what it actually meant ... turns out that was a mistake and I should not have done that

okay calm down Claude, you're not doing THAT bad (... I'm tempted to ask it if it's sure this is the sixth time though)

I legit forgot that the whine/rant is tonight I feel like "primetime address on broadcast TV" doesn't really carry as much weight in the Internet era

"but if you use AI, you don't learn the underlying things!" that's not automatically true. you can still learn the things. it's just no longer mandatory. in a world of practically infinite things to learn - why wouldn't you want the flexibility to choose, instead of being forced by necessity?

I just returned from my annual ritual of (simplified) helping chaperone a youth camp for a week and a half I just realized that as a side effect of spending 10 days mostly outside during the summer, I'm now content with keeping my home A/C at a decently higher temperature than when I left

I realized earlier I'm treating my Fable usage like potions in video games "hmm, this problem seems hard. but what if something harder comes along and I've already used all my Fable?"

a little over a year ago, a best friend suddenly announced they were tired of my constant idle bullshit banter. which hurt. then about a week ago, he asked why I was being non-communicative, and I'm like "tbh: because these days you don't talk about anything but your bf" sux.
