The best question a reporter ever asked of Trump was the one S.V. Date asked in 2020: “Mr. President, …do you regret at all, all the lying you’ve done to the American people?” The White House press corps needs to be at least that tough today—indeed tougher, given Trump’s degraded state of mind.
I found watching Trump’s UN speech today deeply depressing. It is a matter of national shame and humiliation that he is our president. Every country in the world, friend and foe alike, sees we are governed by a vainglorious fool.
