Sad but not surprised every time I see this flag 🏳️‍⚧️ in the handle or bio of somebody defiantly defending the use of genAI. It makes a tragic sense that the sycophancy spouting slop generator would be appealling to people who are probably used to being spat upon. Doesn't excuse it, but.

So today I'm thinking a bit about the Winkler County Nurses scandal that happened in Texas about fifteen years ago. I first heard of it on This American Life in 2011 and I was captivated, just such in-your-face corruption and malfeasance, and it occurs to me that we're living in a national version.

I first became aware of him in 2007 when I saw the movie "Once" at the arthouse cinema. It was one of those rare movies where I didn't want it to end, I wanted to stay with these lovely people as long as I could. I bought the soundtrack on the way home that day. This is a hard, tough loss for music.

I'm gonna say it again, the purpose of "age verification" has absolutely nothing to do with protecting children, because the people pushing it couldn't care less if every kid in the country who wasn't their own got gunned down at their schools.
