in a permissionless decentralised network, defaults and the values they encode, matter enormously, and just pointing at user choice does not solve for that so if bsky now advertises itself with "it doesn't have algorithms", it has not even remotely grappled with the system is is actually building

Been playing with an idea: semantic heap ownership A dominator tree is a classic way to represent a heap. However, it only detects single-ownership, e.g. "this activity owns that view which owns that bitmap" Real world heaps are messy. Shared ownership make dominator trees useless

One of my pet peeves: mocking people or factions who are fucking it up. People learn things by fucking up! So if something is self sustaining through the failures (whether that be AI driven development, or the Trump movement, or whatever), eventually they will figure it out.

Rich diagnostics is something I've wanted to work on for a while and takes a lot of inspiration from Rust. Same focus on detail and bouncing you in the right direction, but now with markup and diagrams! This works safely in the IDE as well, where IDE builds will gracefully fall back to plain ascii.
