"If I'd beaten her up, why would she cook dinner for me later on?" is quite a "defense" here.
"If I had assaulted her, would she have [felt she had] to cook me dinner six days later [or else I’d beat her again]?”
Everyone who has endured DV sees right thru this.
Is that a boot print with blood on it in the background? When they show you who they are, believe them the first time.
Good thing there are no tropes about violence towards women and then demanding a sandwich
If you know people who work for a shelter for abused women you would know that this is directly from their playbook. Many times they have to escape in the middle of night with their children in hand
Abused people know not to rock the boat or they get more abuse.
It struck me she tried to remain civil and not break down to keep her daughter from feeling the effects of the adult tension.
She was trying to save herself from another of his assaults, it is typical of the behavior of battered wife syndrome
