I started another painting on this long weekend, but it’s ~4x the size of the previous two (22x36 versus 8x10) so it’s going to take a second- I’m a lot happier with this one so far

I started another watercolor, will update when it’s done. Need to fix up some color bleed areas, wasn’t paying attention and there’s some light inconsistencies but it’s a major improvement from the last one!

It’s not like- the best but I painted for the first time in over a decade and if you squint it actually looks like something so I’ll take that as a net positive. (But no fr it’s been nice to do something not on a computer again I may paint more who knows)

Two of my closest friends use ChatGPT so much and it’s like watching a car crash in real time as the person I know they were slowly deteriorate into a weird husk. It’s actually super depression that no amount of intervention seems to get them to realize it either.

Doing some crazy unreal scale tests. The scene is something over 400square miles, all done procedurally (All assets are placeholder for right now while I refine things) All 400 square miles or so are traversable and populated with assets

I was asked what the most helpful thing I learned in college was (in terms of my career): Take a Modern Art class. It will fundamentally change how you view art, color, light and the process of creating art. (This usually ranges from the 1860’s realism to the 1980’s Neo-Expressionism)

Environment artist tip: Figuring out themes, forms, and styles of a place before you stylize it will always give you a drastically better result than creating a style first and trying to make something fit it. Figure out the why, when, how first- then you can change it

I saw a 15 second clip of Assassins Creed shadows where they were just riding through the mountains of Japan- That clip was so gorgeous I immediately went to my PS5 and bought the game.
