Living in the slop era is making it very conspicuous that art being treated as a churn of contextless, interchangeable content, not rooted in any way, with the audience themselves being made of isolated consumers, has been the problem for a while and the generative llm shit is just an accelerant.

this is the thing about (UZ)Doom modding! You can do pretty much anything but you're not utterly naked to start out with. The basic "draw a sector and put an imp in it" is no more complicated in UZDoom than it was in 1994, nor harder to access (easier really, since the utils suck somewhat less now)

I'll be honest the whole genAI thing made me aware of what should be done. Make the friction of creation fun. This is why I love Mario Artist, RPG Maker and honestly most things that does prebaked engines but with enough freedom to mess around. Iteration is kind of the point to become mature.

Boy, I'll tell you, as much as I love UZ (nee GZ) Doom's ability to use portals to stitch together complicated level structures, one disadvantage is that it can make editor views look MUCH less elegant than in traditional mapmaking
