Now, this summer, I return to the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State as a University Professor and Chair of Politics and Government.
It is no exaggeration that my subsequent path and all the many wonderful opportunities I have had - including the honor & privilege of 13 years as the Herman Brown Chair and Professor of Political Science at TCU - were made possible by Illinois State’s initial investment in me.
The Department Chair - Tom Eimermann - shepherded and mentored me for two years, during which time I learned to be a member of a department and made progress as a scholar and a teacher.
30 years ago this summer, the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University took a chance and gave me an opportunity as a Visiting Assistant Professor.
