BIG PLOT TWIST in TX: Tarrant County's GOP officials, faced with intense public outrage about huge cuts to the battleground county's polling locations in November, have decided to delay their final vote on the plan so more polling places can be added
They're probably hoping you won't hear about this. But tomorrow in TX, Tarrant County officials meet to vote on a GOP plan to cut almost HALF of Election Day voting locations, plus 8 early voting locations, some of them on campuses. Not hard to guess why. fortworthreport.org/2026/07/30/t...

Calling my #astrophotography chums in the Americas: will you be staying up late tonight with your telescopes trained on the Einstein Crater? Impact: 02:34 EDT; 4 tonnes of Space-X metal (15m x 4m diameter) travelling 5400mph Expected: 50km high plume containing ~1Mkg of debris 😲🔭
"Will I be able to see the crash?" Probably not, but that doesn't mean friends in the Americas shouldn't try (daylight for those in Europe): look to the eastern limb of the Einstein crater. The @eso.org VLT will observe it & NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is taking before and after images! 🔭🧪🛰️
I’m watching cyclists explain that they don’t follow the traffic codes bc they believe it’s safer for them not to… in the same posts demanding that police enforce the traffic codes for cars. And man, as someone who’s been hit twice while jogging by cyclists not following the code, why not both?

I’m curious to see who allowed Trump, a known felon convicted of fraud, to transfer his funds to them and continue his money laundering. Clearly they would’ve been aware of why Capital One was debanking him, and we all know the arrogant crook bitched bitterly to them about Capital One’s audacity.
ABC has picked it up now. "Capital One says it closed hundreds of Trump's bank accounts in 2021 'for anti-money laundering reasons'"
Friday: Capital One reveals they debanked Trump debanked bc he was laundering money. Sunday: Acting Attorney General solidifies promise Trump's tax crimes won't be punished.

Serious question: How much is preference and how much is not having access to/being able to afford/knowing what higher quality is/feels like? I recently made a muslin sundress with a full muslin lining bc I couldn’t find what I wanted. I’d forgotten how nice a properly fitted and lined one feels.
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
Truly gross. On the other hand, the zero sugar cream soda and Dr. Pepper mashup is not bad at all.
Fun fact: this tastes terrible, like Mountain Dew cough syrup. Do not recommend.

Reiterating that Musk's literal voter bribery last time was an unambiguous go-directly-to-jail felony, for which people have been successfully prosecuted over vastly smaller amounts. It wasn't just pouring money into a PAC, whatever one thinks of that. It was a black-letter plain-as-day crime.
