need to reconsider being on this app. Lists are shitty and abusive and there’s no way to remove yourself even after blocking the creator. I really kind of hate it here and I think I need to be done

one cool thing about being a straight man is being able to look in the direction of the celebrity gossip industrial complex and say something to the effect of "seems bad!" and move on, because unlike most societal ills, that one's not on us

Tonight I made charro beans with pork belly and chorizo, both of which I was able to buy at a Walmart 5 minutes from my house in Virginia. And not the DC part of Virginia, one of the bullshit other parts that doesn't have pro sports.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

The "use" paradigm is so self serving when wielded by high earners. Managers need society more than anyone else. I manage a group of 20ish engineers. That means not only do I need roads to exist to get me to work, I need roads to get them to work from places where I don't live. It's not complicated.

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Bsky's "problem" is, for Conservatives to survive in a space, you have to exempt them from whatever rules exist to compel normal people to behave. If you don't allow hate speech, you have to allow it for them otherwise they'll get banned nonstop. Seen it everywhere else.
