Is it expertly done? Definitely not 😂. Did I make it myself with Gimp and YouTube tutorials and coffee and cussing and not a single AI prompt? YUP. And every time I do, I get a little better at it. That’s what happens when you make things yourself. Skillbuilding, not slop.

Some days I wake up very grumpy (like today) and then I see a Chuck Tingle post and I have to be like FINE. I’ll appreciate the magic of human existence, OKAY.
WHAT A GREAT DAY. it is astonishing how cool existence is. endless gratitude. what a blessing
After a frantic month of revisions and a final line editing pass, Murder Grannies is off to my agent!! And while I wait to see if it’s just too unhinged to sell, I’ll be over here breathing into a paper bag 😂
So the weird relationship the British have with wicker furniture suddenly makes a lot more sense…🤔
Okay. I’m totally gonna see the movie where Alexander Skarsgård plays the middle-ages wicker sex husband. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP0B...
In the same week a Black debut author lost a $2.4 million dollar deal over (so far unsubstantiated) “vibes” accusations of AI usage, seeing influencers rally around and make calls for nuance around Hank Green openly using ChatGPT for his work is a perfect illustration of white privilege in action.

Low budget science fiction novel adaptations: * The Mall Is A Harsh Mistress * Project Hi Mary How's It Going * Does Andy Dream of Electric Sheep? * The Travel Montage Before We Cut to a Small, Angry Planet * Have Space Suit — Will Travel Next Season, If We Get Renewed * Slaughterhouse 2 ½
Folks demanding that Carl be first and foremost cast to fit their personal preferences for hotness is supremely ironic given the themes of the whole DCC series 👀
Norwegian brunost (“brown cheese”) (geitost/gjetost if it has goat milk). It’s essentially cheese fudge; milk and cream cooked for hours until the natural sugars caramelize and all the water evaporates. If you think that sounds weird and/or *absolutely delicious*, you’re right.
People on Bluesky sigh and talk about The Discourse as if it were something required of them instead of something they opt to partake in, day in and day out. You really don't have to. Post about your favorite cheese
My watch at 5:30am: Good Morning, Jo! Me: MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
I’m right around 70k words on this revision pass through Murder Grannies but the edits giveth, and the edits taketh away.
It is MIND BOGGLING to me that when people ask for books like Dungeon Crawler Carl, someone always comes out of the woodwork to recommend Red Rising. In WHAT UNIVERSE is that a comp?! Other that extreme violence in space? 😱
The stars aligned such that I finally had free time near Ballston when this food truck was open, and apparently you can still find amazing $4 tacos in this burning world. Quest complete: happy stomach. (local cilantro, no pasa nada on the RFK diarrhea)
Diving into my playlist for Murder Grannies a bit! While it’s a contemporary story, I’m keeping the playlist nostalgic for the formative years of my elderly MC’s youth. But it’s 2026, so that means AC/DC, Bowie, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, Deep Purple, Nina Simone, Queen….🤘
Writer accountability post! Today’s revision goal: 3 chapters (dev and line edits) Today’s revision progress: 1 deep-cleaned bathroom 2 loads of laundry Updated website banner Updated website bio Rough draft of book pitch Got ready to go to gym (did not) Pasta Nap
So nobody was going to tell me that cold brew is just sun tea with coffee grounds? 🤦🏼
OKAY EVERYBODY CAN STOP PANICKING. I found the fifteen pages of edit notes I’d lost forever but actually accidentally saved somewhere weird on my laptop 😅

Writer Beware is currently receiving an incredible volume of reports of impersonation scams: publishers, editors, literary agents, production companies, conferences, & more. I started keeping a list in 2024; in recent months it has more than doubled. writerbeware.blog/2024/03/15/t...
My partner, almost through my last chapter: That was a good wrap on the action, why not end the book here? I suspect you’ll be able to to cut the whole next scene unless it really earns the space. My partner getting to the end: … Me: So, am I cutting it or— My partner: DON’T YOU DARE. JFC. Me:

AI isn't the only slop bio offender--in the mid-2000s, Alphascript & Betascript (2 of the many imprints of German author mill Omniscriptum) were cobbling them together from Wikipedia entries & websearches & selling them on Amazon. There was one of me--gone now tho www.nytimes.com/2026/07/16/t...

Someone used A.I. to write my biography. Thousands more of those books are polluting Amazon. Who is behind all this drivel?

I made a hard deadline by promising my agent I’d send her Murder Grannies in 3 weeks. That unlocked the part of my brain that wrote 20-page (A grade) school essays at 10pm due the next morning. I’ve now finished three chapters in three days and revised five more. Panic is a helluva drug 😂
We’re supposed to be cooking our vegetables to avoid the RFK diarrhea, so for dinner I ate half a loaf of warm zucchini bread with butter. For ✨health✨ 😇
My favorite Sam Neil story is still how he insisted the Australian flag patch on his uniform in Event Horizon replace the Union Jack with the Aboriginal flag, because “that’s how it should be in 2047.” My second favorite is the one where his kid farted in front of Lady Di. RIP, legend 😭
Added another chapter to draw out tension in the ending heist of Murder Grannies and I’m starting to worry that no matter how many chapters I write, I will always be three chapters from finishing this book 😅
HOW did I get this old without realizing O Brother Where Art Thou was an adaptation of The Odyssey?!?! The sirens scene never made any sense to me but it should have been my biggest clue 🤦🏼 (And now I have that song stuck in my head all day.)
