Just finished up about 6hrs of data on the Seagull Nebula in Monoceros. It’s about 4000 ly from Earth. I used a OSC camera, a RedCat51 & 2 Antlia dual narrowband filters: one capturing Ha & OIII. The other capturing SII & Hb. I then split & recombined the channels in SHO pallet. 🔭 #Astrophotography

A nebula shaped like a flying seagull fills the frame in different wavelengths of light resulting in vibrant colors that define the makeup of the nebula.

NGC 2264 is known as the Cone Nebula & the Christmas Tree Cluster & lives about 1000 ly from Earth in the constellation Monoceros. This 11 hr OSC capture was taken last February using a 102mm refractor with no filters. Finally got around to processing it in time for the holidays. 🔭 #Astrophotography

A star field with a magenta and red nebula in the shape of a Christmas tree fills the frame. At the top is a bright patch at the small end of a cone shaped nebula. The cone is upside down from the rest of the Christmas tree like an ornament at the top of it.

At about 49 million light years from Earth, NGC 7331 and friends are wishing you all a great Thanksgiving. This was an 18 hour LRGB capture taken from my yard, under Bortle 5 skies in central MA using an 8” SCT at 1422mm focal length. Happy Thanksgiving! 🔭 #Astrophotography

A star field of white blue, amber and red stars shows a large galaxy viewed almost edge on. The central core glows and younger blue stars encircle it along with gas and dust. Just above it are 4 smaller galaxies that make up the visual group.

Here’s a crop of Stephan’s Quintet taken from my yard with an 8” SCT. While these make up a visual cluster, the blue galaxy, NCG 7320, is closer to us at about 40 million ly from Earth. The other galaxies are gravitationally bound & are a whopping 300 million ly away. 🔭 #Astrophotography

A deep sky view of a galaxy cluster named Stephan’s Quintet. There are 4 galaxies clustered together with a 5th galaxy appearing to the upper right of the cluster. One of the 4 galaxies in the cluster is Blue while the others are amber and white and have interesting tidal features where the galaxies interact together.

Shot this the other night with a 135mm lens and OSC camera. Interesting focal length where you can combine multiple deep sky objects in one frame. Here is the Perseus Double Cluster (left) and the Heart & Soul nebulas (right). 47x300s subs. 🔭 #Astrophotography

A star field with a double star cluster on the left and 2 nebulae on the right, one resembles a heart and the other resembles a soul.

Here is a single 5 min sub from my latest project, NGC 7331 & Friends images on my 8” SCT. I’ve got 11 hrs of L and am waiting for a couple of moonless clear night to finish capturing RGB and Ha. Hopefully this week, the weather will cooperate. 🔭 #Astrophotography

A star field in the constellation Pegasus. The spiral galaxy NGC 7331 is shown on the left side of the image and a cluster of galaxies called “Stephan’s Quintet” is visible on the left side of the frame. My 8” SCT and mono imaging gear on a iOptron HEM27 Strain wave mount. It is setup on the south lawn of my yard.

My band Glowbox is playing 10/25 at Underbones in Somerville, MA. We are promoting our new album, Bland Ambition. If you are in the Boston area, come support local original music.
