I'm a software engineer who develops games and XR using technologies like C#/Unity and JavaScript/WebGL (while increasingly Godot-curious). I wrote the book Unity in Action! website: www.newarteest.com

#gamedev #rpg I am working on party movement for my RPG. I have the party following the leader in a line, but I can't decide if it's better to collapse the line back down when the leader stops moving, or have the entire party freeze too. First video shows collapsing...

Seeing this reminds me of a video I saw years ago where a Republican politician from Staten Island was asked some ridiculous thing about Obama (or maybe Clinton? I forget) and his answer was to throw them out of his office.

Reporter asks Zohran Mamdani's former political opponent, Curtis Sliwa, what he thinks about the campaign to stop Mamdani from attending the 9/11 ceremony: “Ridiculous. He’s the mayor. Stop being sore losers.”

Over the last couple days I've started seeing messages (the spammier ones, natch) in Gmail marked with animated profile images. oh nooooooo (fortunately it only seems to be the mobile app for now, not the web client, but who knows how long)

low key hilarious that the post that triggered the latest round of "Bluesky is dying" discourse has less engagement on Threads than its screenshots have on Bluesky— likely because it contains an outbound link to a news article, which is an automatic shadowban on Meta platforms nowadays 😂

I was just implementing the dirty flag pattern and, despite having done this dozens of times, this time I felt silly writing code like "if isDirty doSomething()". Any other programmers ever have that experience?

I just got a voicemail from an unknown number saying "never fucking call me again!" I assume it's a wrong number, but I'm a little curious if this person is getting spam calls with my number spoofed. Is that a thing?

This is what I've been saying! The experience of using ai is identical to that of a medieval necromancer binding a demon and trying to find the correct words to force it to his will while it subtly tries to eat his soul and drive him insane

Once again, @wolven.blacksky.app's work about magic and AI is vital. It's not just "robo-butler" they want, it's Bound Entity enslaved to master's will, serving their interests over and excluding its own. In such a cosmovision, the magician is empowered by God, and thus becomes God.

This is something I often have to point out about games too, that it's all artificial and nothing happens naturally. And often about lighting too! Although it's just as often about physics.

I started watching Poor Things. I... I don't know if I can take this whole thing. I definitely would walk out if I were seeing this in a theater, but watching it on Netflix, I keep stopping but then like a day later I wanna watch more. wtf is wrong with me

Y'know how iphones automatically create themed slideshows (eg. "moments from summer 2022") of your photos? I was just flipping through one and feeling the warmth of nostalgia, when I realized one was from right before a mass shooting. *sigh*
