No child should struggle to learn in school because they're hungry. Labour and the Newham Independents Party failed to back our amendment to commit to deliver free school meals before free parking.

Newham council has reaffirmed its support for proportional representation, and unanimously calls on Newham's MPs to support Alex Sobel's amendment in Parliament – democracy only works when our voices are heard.

Following pressure from Greens and independents, Newham Council has voted today to divest from Israel's genocide in Palestine, the arms trade, fossil fuels, and other human rights violations. Human lives cannot be measured on a balance sheet. Labour's amendment was rejected.

Cllr Joe Hudson-Small has challenged the cabinet to do more for residents safety on and around Green Street in light of recent collisions and the three deaths last month. The response? Deafening silence from the cabinet member who chose not to attend today.
