Going into Friday rounding off a research trip to Eastern Finland with colleagues. We’ve been visiting an ITE / DIY artist’s home and staying on a nearby island 💚 Let the Finnish Summer times roll from here on out…!

To put these numbers into perspective: In 2024, the University of Dundee had a bit over 3,000 staff.

2700 academic staff at @uniofnottingham.bsky.social received formal notice today that their job is at risk. Approximately 1-in-5 (22%) will lose their job. In an interview in today’s @timeshighered.bsky.social the university’s VC responded “it’s an exciting time for higher education”.

big week in the archive this week, i must have looked at up to 4000 photographs belonging to a DIY-artist from Eastern Finland. hopefully more to share when the time comes, but a real (and really exhausting) treat! Queer rurals here we come ;)

A gloriously verdant & happy Mayday! The green fuse is lit, the lushness breathtaking, the birdsong still (though much-diminished) a wonder. Cuckoo calling in the distance. It makes you feel youthful (I’m not) & hopeful (I am). Hope you can find some of this wherever you are.
