SHU is solitary confinement, exists in janky county jails, is used way too much (see: confining a psychotic person for being psychotic, next door to Mr Tate) and is not indicative of a level of security except protective custody to protect the incarcerated person from others, as is likely true here

Many people’s definition of “homeless” excludes most people w/o homes. What they mean by “homeless” is “impoverished people with stigmatized disabilities occupying public space”. And they assume the person is basically at fault for their disabilities (like substance use problems & mental illness).
