We enter Shabbat this week in contemplation on how to be in continued solidarity with all people. As we watched the Trump regime’s outrageous attacks on Ilhan Omar, we recognized that kind of abuse of government power and targeting of political opponents is exactly how fascists operate.

Aidan Keena is the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month for September, reflecting a stellar month personally as his St Patrick’s Athletic side leapt into the title race. He netted four goals, against Shamrock Rovers, a brace against Dundalk and the winner against Sligo,

Please join me in referring to the do-nothing Minister for Public Expenditure, the man who is responsible more than any other for shutting the country down tomorrow by his cowardice and inaction, as Empty Chambers.

Tomorrow will be a good day to find out who you can trust politically in Ireland. Anyone not on the side of the striking public service workers is not to be trusted, and they need to be told that by the people close to them (that means you) - otherwise, nothing will ever change.

SIPTU has a clear message for public servants scheduled to work from home on Wednesday. Don't do it. Don't open your laptop. Don't check your emails. Don't teach online. Don't answer your phone. A strike only works when the work stops. Remote work is work. #UnionStrike

The Taoiseach's arrogance towards public sector workers has been astonishing. Instead of taking responsibility for the lack of engagement with unions, he has just dismissed their frustration offhand. Unions have no choice but to strike. But govt can choose to put a credible pay deal on the table.

Eight years now since my old school friend Martin (Lar) died. We started going to Ireland home games in 1977 together and did so up until 1982. He was also in a roundabout way responsible for myself and Lorraine getting together; but not totally

An old school friend Martin (Lar) Farrell died on
Tuesday.
Lar in a roundabout way had an influence on Lorraine and me 'getting together.
One evening In August 1980 a group of us were watching the famous Colepark Utd 5-a-side in St
John's College tarmac pitch.
Chatting away it transpired it was going to be Martin's 18th birthday the following day- Party Time
m
Aware that Stephen (Lorraine's brother) had a free gaff it was decided we'd have a party.
We pitched in a fiver-a-piece and I was nominated to buy the drink in Quinnsworth.
At the party I had eyes for Stephen's sister Lorraine, and she had eyes for me; the rest is history.
