Garden wildlife. I saw this Pseudeuophrys lanigera on the garage door last Sunday - not a spider I expect to see outside as it's much more usual for me to find them in the house. It was still on the house though! @britishspiders.bsky.social #londonwildlife
Garden/house wildlife. I rescued this tiny Giant House Spider (Eratigena sp.) from the kitchen sink this morning. Probably the smallest GHS I've ever seen - it was lucky I saw it! @britishspiders.bsky.social
Local wildlife. Quite a surprise to see what I'm sure was a Hummingbird Hawkmoth (Macroglossom stellatarum) on the Sutton Peregrines camera this morning. It's 20 floors up and there are no foodplants up there! @savebutterflies.bsky.social #londonwildlife
Garden wildlife. 1/5. I did a check of the Segestria florentinas around the house last night (all relatively close, either on the house or the adjacent fence), and managed to find 17 - my highest count here so far. These are 1-4. #londonwildlife @britishspiders.bsky.social
Local birding. A Pied Wagtail waiting to take food to its nest/chicks at Sutton Station. It was about to do so when a train arrived at platform 4, then it briefly landed on top of the train as it was just leaving! These were taken from above, from the bridge. #londonbirds
Garden wildlife. Last night the vixen was waiting near the back door to be fed, and at the same time one of the cubs was also at the end of the garden. As soon as she got the food she relinquished it to the cub! 🧡🦊 #londonwildlife #FoxOfTheDay

Garden wildlife. It's great that the Fox cub with the white tip to its tail is clearly quite relaxed when sleeping in my garden, but I'd have been happier if it hadn't adopted a position that looked like it had died! These photos are in sequence...🧡🦊 #FoxOfTheDay

Local birding. One of the Collared Doves that are resident around West Sutton Station (this one was on a platform lamp). This is a bird whose numbers have dropped, and for me local stations/railway lines are pretty much the only places I see them around here now. #londonbirds

Sutton Peregrines. It was great to see all three remaining juveniles preening close together for a short while on the same vent ledge this morning. And they even showed their rings well enough to confirm their ID - from the left it's ZVT (m), ZZT (f), and ZXT (m). #londonbirds
1/2. I went to see the four juvenile Pelicans (and the parents/adults) at St James's Park this afternoon! They didn't leave the island while I was there, but still gave some good views. They were at the west (Buckingham Palace) end, which is apparently their favoured location.
Garden wildlife. 1/2. Some photos of the Foxes from last night and today. 1st is Mum, and after I gave her her food she more or less left it to the two cubs that appeared (2nd photo - enhanced a bit). Then one of the cubs today (with a dark tail tip) marking territory, possibly!
Local wildlife. This morning I saw this presumed Meadow Brown butterfly (Maniola jurtina) in the wildflower area at West Sutton Station. This one has two white spots in the eye spots which guides describe as occasional, and therefore presumably not too common. @rlewington2.bsky.social
Local wildlife. I was watching a Wasp feeding on some prey remains dropped by the resident Peregrines, when I noticed a Zebra Spider (Salticus scenicus) approaching. It didn't approach the wasp but was interested in a Common Green Bottlefly which was nearby, but the fly flew off!
Garden birding. This Woodpigeon spent at least 15 minutes in one of the bird baths today - I didn't see it arrive or leave. Much of the time it was just sitting there, but it did have the occasional bath. #londonbirds
Local wildlife. I've mentioned before that I struggle to identify Hoverflies, especially the smaller ones. This distinctive, and attractive, larger one was one of several in the wildflower area at Morden South Station today, and I think it's Eristalis tenax. #londonwildlife

Local birding. There have regularly been between 8 and 10 Swifts flying quite low over the roads near West Sutton station. Unfortunately, I've not managed to get any good photos of them, but this one of 2 low over a roof this morning is okay I think. 2nd photo cropped. #londonbirds #birds
Sutton Peregrines. 1/3. All 6 birds were present on Quadrant House late this morning. These 1st photos show the 3 juveniles (male, male then female), and furthest right the 2025 immature male together, all highlighted in the 2nd photo), then the 2 juvenile males individually.
Local wildlife. I managed to photograph two of the Common Blue butterflies (Polyommatus icarus) in to the wildflower area at West Sutton Station at the same time today. And while most seem to be males, one of them (lower one in first, and the 2nd image) was this lovely female.

Morden Peregrines. 1/3. I spent some time on site last night hoping to see all 4 juveniles. I only saw 3 together at any one time, but they were quite mobile, often being located on different sides of the budling, so hopefully there are still 4. Here are some photos I took.
Sutton Peregrines. 1/4. All 6 birds were visible for a short while this afternoon. Unfortunately for me, the adult female had gone when I got there, but I still saw 5 - the 3 remaining juveniles, the 2025 immature male (now moulting into adult plumage) and the adult male (in 2/4).
