As a lifelong Minnesota resident and longtime sayer of words, I'm quite certain I aced the test, so if only 59% of my answers matched those of my fellow Minnesotans, it means some of you talk wrong.

dialect.us correctly determining that I am from Minneapolis, but by less of a margin than it should have

I love the idea of Christ and the Antichrist being two distinct guys, like they're Scooby and Scrappy-Doo. "So we all know Jesus, humanity's savior, but he's also got this Wario-style nemesis who crops up occasionally."

We all celebrate Dolly Parton giving away 332 million books to promote childhood literacy, but no one ever talks about my (broadly unsuccessful) national campaign to teach fantasy football podcasters that the word 'versus' has two syllables.

If twitch streamer Hasan Piker had said something bad and we got a multi day news cycle of US Senators issuing statements of condemnation, that would already be stupid. We should be clear that this is happening despite Piker saying something unambiguously good and correct.

Generally speaking, successful politicians need to support good things or bad-but-popular things. Angie "Thank You ICE" Craig cynically tried to do the latter but landed on bad-and-unpopular. Sorry your Senate campaign is eating shit!

In a gubernatorial primary for the party that ostensibly still cares about democracy, its conclusion long-forgone, it's disheartening to see that only 10% of my fellow Democrats opted to check the "hey, it's kinda fucked up that we didn't get a proper say in who our next governor is" box.

The Klob klobbering

At this point, continuing to vote in corporate centrist Dems is just electing MAGA w/extra steps. They will not hold the existing criminals accountable, they will not do the difficult but necessary work to improve Americans' lives, and they will be swept out by the next wave of Republican criminals.

Every non-reelection-year presidential result between 1992 and 2016 could be accurately described as a blind rejection of the status quo. And then in 2020-24 things got worse so the incumbent couldn't win reelection either. But people still crave the conditions that led to Trump I guess.

Anyone pulling the lever for Angie Craig tomorrow for "electability reasons" in a state that hasn't gone Republican since 2002 and in a D+8 wave year in which Dems are leading polls in Texas and Alaska should make that the last primary vote they ever cast. You comprehensively do not know ball.

I stumbled upon the subreddit for Real Time with Bill Maher and was eager to gawk at the freaks who enjoy that show, but I was even more delighted to discover that the entire community is united in loathing of Bill Maher.

The other thing lefty candidates, including El-Sayed, need to improve at is handling the "do you disavow the DSA" purity tests from legacy media. Normies and low-info voters haven't heard of the DSA. It's only scary to them if you validate the framing that it is.

And a few weeks earlier, CNN's Dana Bash did an interview with Brad Lander in which 11 out of 13 questions were about Israel. At some point, a politician needs to call out the absurdity of this and just mock the interviewer to their face.

It obviously sucks that one baseball team gets to take all the best players, but it's extra damning that doing so still doesn't guarantee a championship. Competitive coinflipping-ass sport.

I assume that my 401K is substantially indexed on incapable-of-profit AI companies and will plummet in value when the AI bubble bursts. Perhaps I could take measures avoid this, but I've decided it's worth tens of thousands of dollars to me to not have to learn how all this shit works.

It's making me feel insane to follow El-Sayed vs Stevens MI primary and see the utterly charismaless, platformless Stevens still holding 35-40% of the vote in polling. That's apparently the absolute floor for an establishment candidate. The NPC wing of the Dem primary electorate will never waver.

At the risk of posting Millennial cringe, the St. Paul mayor sexual harassment story strikes me as textbook Michael Scott behavior, way more awkward and socially inept than dangerous. Unfortunately, in real life, Michael Scott doesn't get to keep his job for 7 seasons.
