5. The sanctions that were imposed speak to what the University found credible: I was required to take an anti-harassment training, I was denied last year’s salary increase, and I was given the option to relocate my office.
4. As a result, no one—not the complainant and not I—knows what allegations they found were substantiated (under the low preponderance of the evidence standard).
3. The two allegations from more recent years have to do with disagreements about issues within the department. Though the University found that it was more likely than not that I violated the anti-harassment policy, the University never released the evidence it relied on or its specific findings.
2. That fact is significant for several reasons: the claims did not rise to that level, and also, critically, it means that I got no due process protections during the investigation. Everyone should understand that most of the six allegations are 10-18 years old, and not filed until last year.
