🚜 The abrupt closure of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) is deeply concerning. I’ve joined colleagues in writing to the Environment Secretary for urgent action, including additional funding and a fairer system that gives farmers certainty.

Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for the Horsham Constituency working towards a brighter future. Promoted by the Liberal Democrats, 1 Vincent Square, London SW1 2PN.
🏃➡️ It was a pleasure to officially start this year's Run Barns Green events! Now in its 43rd year, and raising vital funds for St Catherine’s Hospice. A huge thank you to all the volunteers, and congratulations to everyone taking part.
📮 Residents in Horsham are still facing unacceptable delays in receiving their post. I’ve written to Royal Mail, calling for an urgent meeting about letters arriving late, in bulk, or not arriving at all. People deserve a better and more reliable service.
📰 In my West Sussex County Times column this week, I discuss reform to our social care system.

🗣️ Rural residents already pay significantly more council tax per head than their urban counterparts, despite having lower average wages. We cannot simply take models designed around large city regions and assume they will work in rural communities with smaller populations.
📰 In my West Sussex County Times column this week, I discuss Lib Dem Party Conference.

✍️ I've written to the Health Secretary about the financial pressures facing hospices. Hospices provide essential care to people and families at some of the most difficult points in their lives, but many are facing growing financial pressures.
🚨Camera update🚨 I'm pleased to say we've been given the go-ahead for a new CCTV camera to tackle street racing and anti-social driving around Kilnwood Vale. The camera will have night vision and a 360-degree view, and will be monitored by Sussex Police to help identify those involved.
🔶 It was great to be at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference in Brighton! I spoke on a panel event with the Centre for Care about the need to reform the system for unpaid carers, and how I’m pushing for this on the Work and Pensions Committee.
✉️ Last week, I delivered a cross-party letter to the Prime Minister, urging him to support funding for lobular breast cancer research. Andy Burnham supported the Horsham Lobular Moon Shot Project campaign as Manchester Mayor, so I wanted to remind him of the importance of his commitment now.
I’m pleased to hear Swan Walk is still expected to fully reopen on Monday. I met with the centre managers at Cube yesterday to discuss the latest on the closure.
💧Water companies have been allowed to fail for far too long, leaving customers paying the price for years of poor regulation and sewage pollution. I spoke in Parliament this week about what needs to change, including stronger regulation and a different ownership model.
I've been supporting a group of bereaved families who have raised serious concerns about their experiences following the deaths of loved ones under the care of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I’m pleased that Dr Padmore has now agreed to meet with the families.

✍️ I know there are concerns about the lighting on the bridge between the Carfax and The Black Jug. I’ve raised this with Horsham District Council and the building owners directly to work on a solution. I’ll provide a further update as soon as possible.

📰 In my West Sussex County Times column this week, I discuss the recent film about Reform UK and how easy it can be to buy political influence in Britain Farage has spent years pretending as if the rules don't apply to him, it is unacceptable.

🗣️ Yesterday I shared the experience of Ian and Stuart in Horsham, who welcomed their daughter through surrogacy. There must be a better way to protect everyone involved while ensuring children have legal recognition of their parents from birth.
This is the definition of a shambles. West Sussex has been told on three different occasions this year that we would finally get a clearer picture of what our local democracy will look like, only for the goalposts to move again.
Plans for major overhaul of councils halted
Proposals to merge smaller councils to form larger authorities have been paused or withdrawn in a number of areas.

Thank you to everyone who attended my latest Farmers Roundtable, and to CLA Director General, Bella Murfin, and NFU County Advisor, Romy Gue for joining us. It's invaluable to hear your views on the challenges facing local agriculture and how we can ensure they are understood by government.

I recently met with Lawrence Gosden, the CEO of Southern Water to raise concerns about sewage pollution, water bills and the long-term security of our water supplies. I pushed for the urgent improvements that residents need to see, and will continue to do so.
