Postdoc for RTG "GönomiX" at UGöttingen, in collab with MPI-NAT and UMG. PhD Evo-Devo @Clark. All about embryos, neurons and evolution. 🇵🇪🏳️‍🌈 #embryo25

1/2 And another addition to our #GoenomiX family. 🥳 Welcome, Simon! 🔬 Research: Genomics, evolution and computational approaches to biology 🔭 Looking forward to: Learning and applying machine learning approaches to comparative multi-omics data

1/2 And here we go, our next #GoenomiX student arrived. 🥳 Welcome, Mariam! 🔬Research: Gene-environment interactions, evolution of gene regulatory networks, evolution of exaggerated traits 🔭Looking forward to: Learning how to use single-cell omics in non-traditional model species

My time at Clark is coming to end. I will defend my thesis this Thursday, July 30th, at 10 a.m. EST. I am grateful to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and mentored me throughout this journey. I look forward to sharing my findings with you.

Fun fact, the worms have eyes, THEY CAN SEE YOU 👀 I can't tell for sure which type this species would have, but they are all cool 🧪🦑 www.cell.com/current-biol...

Top: Three species of sabellids (left to right: Anamobaea sp., Bispira sp., and Megalomma interrupta) detailing general arrangements of radiolar eyes (arrowheads). The picture of M. interrupta includes a diagram of the anterior end of the worm’s body within the tube. Bottom: Images of radiolar eyes from eight species of sabellids organized by increasing sophistication from no eyes, to ocellar clusters, to compound eyes. Scale bar = 200 μm.

Christmas tree worms extend their spiraled feeding crowns, while a spinyhead #blenny peeks from its burrow in front of one—two tiny reef icons sharing the same real estate in #PuertoRico. Life on the reef is small, colorful, and endlessly intertwined. #marinelife

A close-up of several colorful Christmas tree worms, showing their symmetrical spiral feeding crowns in orange, purple, and blue hues, radiating like fireworks across the reef.

📣 Following the Summer School, we will have this year's Symposium on "Frontiers in Molecular Zoology". Present your work on emerging model systems! Register until June 30 with a contributed talk: events.gwdg.de/event/1458/ (Registration without a talk is open until August 14).

Göttingen SPIRIT - Symposium “Molecular Genetics in Zoology” (Symposium only)

In this 2-day symposium will bring together international scientists working on understanding the function of genes underlying a wide range of zoological phenomena. Some contributed talks will be sele...

I passed my PhD dissertation last Thursday, closing a very important chapter in my career/life. I received so much support over the years, and I cannot be more grateful to my lab and the Evo-Devo community. Catch me next week at #NESDB26 where I will give a talk about spiral cleavage and annelids.
