TV, politics, cats. Not always in that order.
I’d love to know if BBC Alba are getting a hike in figures outside of Scotland at the moment…certainly are on in this part of Leeds…
In that 1982 #totp you see Bates making his escape after the opening link so he’s not stuck up there for the whole song. The big stage they introduced the followed year had an “escape route” at the back presumably for this very reason
The TV Burp Time Capsule continues with Series Three! It was an absolute belter of a series, there are also some quite interesting behind-the-scenes revelations from Harry Hill’s autobiography. Have a read below. thatcomedyfan.wordpress.com/2026/07/24/t...
The TV Burp Time Capsule Series Three: What if TV Continues to Get Worse?
Series three of TV Burp was quite possibly the most tightly packed of the show’s entire eleven-year run. From Club Reps to Jeremy Bowen’s ruminations on the existence of God, literally nothing was …

Catching up on #totp Story of 2001 and as well as going widescreen the cameras in TV Centre were a hell of a leap forward. The post-October stuff looks HD in comparison to Elstree and Riverside
Incredible work from both broadcasters the last 6 weeks covering a really quite challenging tournament.
This is incredible but I do particularly love the nod to the original 80s version, right down to the punchline at the end
🟦 CLEAN FEED | The new version of the 80s John Cleese ad "What has the BBC ever done for me?" Due to debut on TV during the World Cup final. www.youtube.com/watch?v=koft...
I went to the Eurovision 70th exhibition at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, and found the t-shirt I was wearing was one of the exhibits
Yes, yes and did I say yes. @katerubu.bsky.social and I independently loved this as teenagers, and it was our walkout music at our wedding ceremony. On The Ropes is an absolutely brilliant album too #totp
Who fancies another look inside the TV Burp Time Capsule? This time, we revisit the heady days of Pop Idol, and there’s a feud between the production teams of TV Burp and EastEnders… there’s only one way to find out… Read part 2 below: thatcomedyfan.wordpress.com/2026/07/13/t...
…and if you’d researched it properly, you’d know he has stopped using it for fairly obvious reasons #totp2000
This is on display at the pool where our daughters have their lessons. Every week I love the complete lack of context and vaguely threatening nature
Someone’s quickly rewinding all the Boxpark footage for the news now…
Always thought Dermot came across as one of the good guys. Such a shame. There can’t be many who put in such a shift at all three major news providers.
RIP Dermot Murnaghan. His first frontman job was on the Channel 4 Daily, which he got to sign off succinctly.
Dull post alert but can anyone recommend a printer? Obviously the usual around cost of ink versus initial outlay is important, but we’ve had such shocking luck with them over the years just reasonable basic functionality would be a start. Any recommendations out there?
It's back to 23 April 1994 for the first programme of the third, and final series, of Parallel 9. The early arrival of Parallel 9's new commander causes a little chaos for Kovan. ➡️ youtu.be/9TZHTIjkpa8
This is a project I’ve thought about starting for ages! It’s time to open the TV Burp Time Capsule and take a look back at how Harry Hill’s late-night comedy show, which quietly launched on ITV back in 2001, ended up changing TV forever! thatcomedyfan.wordpress.com/2026/07/01/t...
The TV Burp Time Capsule – Series One
What’s the most influential British TV programme made in the last quarter century? The answer is TV Burp! What do you mean, “No!”? Of course it’s TV Burp. There isn’t another TV show that has chang…

Just another manic Sunday. Don’t think we’ve ever got a football match to air within about 12 hours before. Thanks FIFA, love your work
Ten years ago I opened my iPad and found the night of the Brexit vote in BBC News notifications…
The ITV indoor World Cup set has the vibe of when CBBC used to go on the roof of TV Centre in the summer, then had to sit in a beach hut at the side when it rained…
Topping off a mad old day with a 0000-0700 night shift, as you do
I'm going to forward a theory. The titles for series 1 of TMWRNJudy (as the cool kids say) similarly altered show by show to imply different fates befalling Richard. Not saying it was a nod to this, but given the general daytime aesthetic, it's not impossible.
Offering some gum…I was right, the relationship is developing!
There's another variant of the couple below from March of 93 showing them wearing business attire (at 1:05), so I presume it was a running joke they had throughout the time those titles were on air youtu.be/y1egXITX1hI?...
