Ah, just heard this. Undeservedly in Terry's shadow towards the end, but more than his own man, Dory was *the* quintessential NWA Champion for many years, and a phenomenal wrestler in so many ways. He wasn't Terry Funk, but nor was anyone else. Nobody else was Dory, either.

I've said this elsewhere but it bears repeating. Jimmy Cricket genuinely loved what he did. If you've ever watched a @franticplanet.bsky.social piece on the Royal Variety or similar, it's probably come from Jimmy sharing a VHS rip online, as he'd regularly put his old material out.

Jimmy Cricket : truly one of the nicest men in this business. Daft as a brush on stage (and able to be cross generational in his appeal) but so warm and kind and generous and supportive off it. He also has a lovely family of good people. Ah this is so sad. RIP Jimmy.

Thanks all for the kind comments about this video. It won't come as a surprise to hear I've always gravitated towards the humour in classic Dr Who, and some of the finest can be found in City Of Death whenever Chadbon is on screen, toeing the line between bullish and bewildered to maximum effect.

I’m so sad Bill Oddie left us. He was sick for some time and I wrote to him. He auditioned me for The Pembroke Revue in 1963 and I stepped into his roles for The Edinburgh Festival when the Cambridge Footlights went to the West End. We watched England win the World Cup together at Wembley in ‘66.

Updates to the oldest wrestler thread: Kendo called off his match this month, after objecting to LDN cosying up to the Reform Party. Jimmy Valiant wrestled, aged 83, in his final match on 25th April. Thus ends a 61 year career, and cements The Boogie Woogie Man as the 3rd oldest wrestler ever.
