Dear Andy Burnham, a gentle reminder that the climate crisis may be one of "a number of different issues". It's also the only one with the ability to devastate global food supply, drown cities, collapse the Atlantic current that keeps our winters mild, etc. And on which there is no turning back

One Q at lobby said the PM hadn't done "a single social media post" about draughts or heatwaves: "I don't think he's mentioned us at all in any interviews. How?" PM's spokesman: "The Prime Minister has been in post for two weeks. I think he has spoken and addressed a number of different issues"

If you are a SPORTS FAN concerned about #ClimateBreakdown, please consider signing this declaration calling for the end to sport sponsorship by fossil fuel companies, airlines, airports & makers of internal combustion engine vehicles. I'd love to see a similar campaign addressing arts sponsorship.

The Daily Telegraph has raced through all five stages of climate denial this week. But this is, perhaps, the most ridiculous column so far: "Without minimising the severe downsides…especially on some poorer nations, many in Britain would enjoy the kind of warmer climate predicted by modellers..."

… Modern SLSs are dependent on individual school subscriptions for funding. The problem with this is that many of the benefits of getting children reading for pleasure are long term and difficult to quantify and schools on tight budgets tend to focus on short term quantifiable academic benefits.

There is one line in the report that mentions that some submissions to the inquiry asked for School Library Services to be made statutory (as they were when I was at school). The loss of SLSs in many areas has been a HUGE handicap to schools trying to get children reading for pleasure. …

A quote from the report: Some submissions also called for School Library Services, which exist in some local authorities to provide library services and support to schools, to be made statutory.

This photo from the BBC news website sums up what's wrong with humanity's response to #ClimateBreakdown. We can now see it clearly on the horizon and know it's threatening other people, but we're not going to change the way we behave until we're on fire ourselves.
