Watched Elvis on BBC iplayer. Austin Butler is gorgeous and the music is great, esp the early stuff by Big Mama Thornton, Sister Rosetta Tharpe et al. For me, it just reinforces that Elvis appropriated his music from black musicians, and then did nothing to support them during segregation.

I heard a tale once about Louis in Leeds. My pal went to a tailor and saw a signed pic "with thanks" on the wall. The story was that Louis needed a suit fixed in a hurry for a show and said tailor did so. Next day an envelope showed up with the photo and £200. A small fortune in the early 60s.
