Sundown this Wednesday until nightfall on Thursday marks Tisha B'Av, a solemn time for the Jewish community that commemorates tragedies throughout history from the destruction of the First Temple to the holocaust. 📷 Memorial prayer - London School of Jewish Studies

A small pamphlet titled Memorial Prayer for the victims of the mass massacres of jews in Nazi-occupied lands.

I promised a thread on the actual content and argument of this book a few days ago and have yet to deliver. Given my travelling arraignments, I beg leave for those waiting on this but will have to postpone my contemporary summary.

I am deeply honoured to have received this prize. I’ll write up some posts specifically about the book later today and the contribution I hope to make to understanding ancient Judaism through its arguments. Thank you @biajs.bsky.social

Guess what? I’m at risk of redundancy. My job - and those of my colleagues in my department and across our wider faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences - is one of those currently targeted for cuts. I received a personal letter today. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
