On May Day, I was arrested with @chuckforqueens.bsky.social by the NYPD Strategic Response Group for participating in a demonstration with @sunrisemvmt.bsky.social outside the NY Stock Exchange. We called billionaires clowns and demanded they give their fair share instead of killing our planet.

Chuck Park (@chuckforqueens.bsky.social) who’s running against Grace Meng (@gracemeng.bsky.social) in CD-6 is here at NYSE for May Day.

With PACs spending $450,000 on Carl Wilson and $25,000 on Lindsey Boylan, this was very likely the most expensive Special Election in NYC history. In order to have democratic elections, we must eliminate Super PAC spending, especially at the local level.

Screenshot that reads: “Mr. Wilson also received the support of deep-pocketed outside groups headed by influential Democrats, including Greg Goldner, an ally of former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo who managed Mr. Cuomo's mayoral campaign against Mr. Mamdani. According to the New York City Campaign Finance Board, outside groups spent more than $450,000 to support Mr. Wilson's candidacy. Ms. Boylan received just $25,000 in outside funding, from a single group, a Working Families Party political action committee.”

While I personally oppose both buffer bills, I am pleased that Mayor Mamdani will veto the one without a veto-proof majority. Severely restricting protests outside “any place where educational programming takes place” would have been disastrous, especially in times of rising fascism.

NEW: Mayor Zohran Mamdani will veto a controversial bill approved by the City Council last month instructing the police department to establish anti-protest “buffer zones” around schools and educational institutions, THE CITY has learned. www.thecity.nyc/2026/04/24/m...
