#MEpolitics: Here are a few actions you can take to combat the far-right’s expanding efforts to disrupt local governance: - Attend City Council meetings and peacefully refute their rhetoric - Join official city advisory committees - Canvass your neighbourhood for your local progressive candidates

The attack on government as a public good is not just playing out on the national level. It’s making its way to municipalities. It’s why failed candidate Jonathan Bush (yep, of those Bushes) is pumping thousands of dollars into the Bangor City Council race. It’s a war on government for the people.

A protestor gets assaulted by several MAGA supporters for merely interrupting Trump’s fascist rally, then gets manhandled by security, who merely attempt to calm the people assaulting them, leaving them in the crowd. Trump is trying to signal it is open season on his opposition.

holy shit -- a protester at the Trump rally gets physically assaulted after they interrupt the rally by a man who punches her in the face. Trump smears the protester as a "fat guy"

The early morning DHS raid of House Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (MN-D) home is yet another escalation in not only the Trump regime’s weaponisation of the federal gov against his political enemies, but the regime’s attempt to incite a race war, as @atrupar.com explains in his new, prescient article.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 15h ago

"What Trump is doing now is next level. He’s not just attacking Somali residents. Rather, he’s calling for Minnesotans to attack them as well. And of course, it’s all based on absolute lies." — @snipy.bsky.social

Please take time to read this important thread from @andycraig.bsky.social explaining why the DHS raid on Rep. Omar’s home ahead of the midterms—an obvious act of political intimidation—is a dangerous escalation of the Trump regime’s weaponisation of the federal gov against his political enemies.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social · 17h ago

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.

The Trump regime intensifying their weaponisation of the federal government against his political enemies is shocking but not surprising. And it will only get worse if we do not take back Congress. We must do everything we can to elect the candidates committed to holding the regime accountable.

Watch the video of the ICE shooting in NYC and you’ll see that none of the agents—which had their firearms aimed at the victim—were in danger. They were on the side of the victim’s vehicle as he panicked and hit the gas pedal. The agents THEN shot him as he moved away. This is attempted murder.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social · 3d ago

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.

AI comps are using more resources to game out their response to catastrophic scenarios caused by their product than actually preventing the catastrophes from happening in the first place, whilst also working to convince the Trump regime that they’re too big—and vital to national security—to fail.

#MEpolitics: Based on the countless hours I’ve spent both listening to—and empirically refuting—supporters of Bobby Charles (and Donald Trump) as they pontificate about unhoused people in Bangor during the public comment period of City Council meetings, their “solution” has a distinctly “final” hue.

James Myall@jamesxmyall.bsky.social · 3d ago

The metaphor also makes me wonder exactly what solution Bobby has in mind if this is how he dehumanizes people who are homeless.

#MEpolitics: I live in Bangor—walking distance from downtown—and Bobby Charles is not only talking out of his arse, he’s employing the MAGA tactic of trying to dehumanise and demonise unhoused people, many of whom are unhoused because of the failed, inhumane policies of people like Bobby Charles.

James Myall@jamesxmyall.bsky.social · 3d ago

It’s been a minute since I was in Bangor, but I feel like this might been a teensy exaggeration. #mepolitics

When we take back control of the federal government and begin the work to reform it into a strong and robust social democracy, one of the first actions will not only be to arrest every member of the Trump regime, but to confiscate all of their pilfered assets and return them to the people.

"Next month, Trump is hosting the 'most exclusive dinner in the world' at his golf club in Virginia — & you’re invited! Well, only if you can pony up millions to buy his scammy meme coin. It’s just another breathtaking bit of corruption that, by now, is depressingly routine." — @snipy.bsky.social

Ask yourself *why* any government would levy sanctions on the ICC, denounce its investigations, and reject its jurisdiction. Then research *which* have levied sanctions on the ICC, denounced its investigations, and rejected its jurisdiction. I think you’ll find some very concerning commonalities.

* ICC STRONGLY REJECTS US SANCTIONS AGAINST THE INSTITUTION * ICC SAYS SANCTIONS ARE AN ATTEMPT TO OBSTRUCT THE COURSE OF JUSTICE @reuters.com

Mullin’s comments during the DHS presser for another brutal ICE abduction in NYC get to the heart of the regime’s philosophy: Constitutionally protected due process is a privilege only afforded to those that can pay for it. And, if you’re not male, white, and/or Christian, you have to pay extra.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 4d ago

Markwayne Mullin: "It's shameful that we're giving this particular case so much attention when this was a thug, an absolute worst of the worst"

Many of us have warned for sometime that the “jokes” and “random comments” from Trump and his cronies about rejecting election results that imperil his regime were designed to seed and signpost its plans for responding to the midterms and 2028 general election. The regime will not go quietly.

NEW: As Colorado’s Tina Peters reportedly meets with President Trump to discuss an election “plan,” her attorney says the plan involves seizing ballots nationwide and discusses strategy for a potential civil war

PREDICTION: Trump is going to make similar racist statements about immigrant communities in other blue and purple states over the course of the next few weeks leading up to election day in an attempt to incite disorder, which his regime will use as a pretext to send troops to polling stations.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 4d ago

Trump tries to start a race war: "The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants ... The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!"

This arbitrary change in terminology—which Trump and other members of his regime have done before—is a well-worn tactic for authoritarians. It may seem farcical, but that’s actually the point: it’s an intentional farce used to test the subservience of his supporters and the resolve of his enemies.

#MEpolitics: Susan Collins is not only politically corrupt, but she’s morally corrupt, choosing to fabricate a nonsensical explanation for dismissing Christine Blasey Ford’s sworn testimony that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Ford so as to justify confirming Kavanaugh to SCOTUS. Vote. Her. Out.

Collins Watch@collinswatch.bsky.social · 5d ago

Attorneys for Christina Blasey Ford: "[Susan] Collins may claim to be a moderate, but she does not vote like one. And where Dr. Ford demonstrated tremendous courage, Sen. Collins has demonstrated that she will always place politics over principle." tinyurl.com/yb6pyx63 #MEpolitics

Press Herald article: "Collins justified her vote by explaining that she had met privately with Kavanaugh, who, in addition to denying the assault, assured her that he would honor precedent, including Roe v. Wade. She subsequently also told CNN that with regard to Dr. Ford’s sexual assault, “I do not believe that Brett Kavanaugh was her assailant. I do believe that she was assaulted. I don’t know by whom, and I’m not certain when, but I do not believe he was the assailant.”
This preposterous explanation, while politically expedient, was offensive not only to Dr. Ford but to survivors everywhere. Conveniently forgotten by Collins was Dr. Ford’s sworn testimony that she was “one hundred percent” certain that it was Kavanaugh who had assaulted her. Also ignored was the important fact that Dr. Ford had named Kavanaugh as her assailant to her friends, therapist and husband years before his nomination."

The President of the United States, in front of a crowd of his supporters, during a televised rally, admits to a Quid Pro Quo pardon, which is a felony and impeachable offence. And absolutely nothing will happen, because his party, which controls congress, are fascist collaborators and sycophants.
