Time to get morbid... but also a bit hopeful? 🕯️😇 I'm beyond thrilled that the DFG has decided to fund the 3-year project "#digitalafterlife"—in which @fabianhutmacher.bsky.social and I will scrutinize the use of existing and emerging digital technologies (#genAI) to cope with mortality and grief 🙌

A manuscript of mine has been with a (well-known) journal for more than 14 months before I finally heard back from the editors today. Let me show you one of the received peer reviews, in its full glory. 🤡

According to our anonymous student evaluations, I am now a certified "Süßmaus"—which can be vaguely translated to 'sweet mouse,' even though that doesn't fully capture its nuances of endearment. So can I get an emoji combining 🥸 and 🐭 in the next Unicode update, please?

Always chilling on his little chair next to me as I wrote a Master's thesis, a PhD dissertation, and my first grant proposal. Moved with me all over the country as the career required such mobility. And stayed my loyal friend for 15 years, through many personal hardships. I'm so grateful, Gilbi 💔

I would like to use the current, decision-letter fueled #ICA25 buzz to send my gratitude to the program/division/interest group chairs—who surely invested a lot of their time to handle this enormous review extravaganza. 🙏

Really delighted that my team and I got several submissions accepted at #ICA25, but those letters were followed by a moment of contemplation: Spending my birthday in Trumpland honestly wasn't on my bucket list for 2025. Got a pro/con list to fill out... 🤔💭

If I have to see MS Word's squiggly red line below my futile attempts to spell ̷f̷i̷c̷t̷i̷c̷i̷o̷u̷s̷ fictitious correctly on the first try, I will seriously just call it a day.

Rain and thunder are my JAM when writing papers—and by now, I've become a true sommelier of nature soundfiles. Soft rain trickling on a tin roof? No problem. Distant thunder, strong wind, heavy drops? I've got just the one. Tropical storm raining down on lush leaves? There you go 🌧⛈️🌿

Here's an idea: How about instead of procrastinating, we all start to prosocial-crastinate...? I mean—delaying urgent task to do good deeds for someone else *does* sound better, doesn't it? 😵‍💫✨
