Dr. Pullen & her TA Fidil recommend The Changeling Sea by Patricia McKillip. They'd never heard of this novella before & were delighted to discover a used copy at their local bookstore. McKillip's gorgeous prose conjures the feeling of a folktale, unknowably old, rediscovered. #purrfectreads

I went to Vermont for the first time for a college roomie girl's weekend. Two people had a terrible time with flights and never arrived ( American Airlines, UGH), but one friend made it, and we had a lovely time! In other news, I'm now obsessed with Vermont.

Its always fun being trapped into explaining to a random customer service person how AI works, that you can't copyright anything created with AI, and that "writing" with AI makes you a writer as much as microwaving a hot pocket makes you a chef.

I've finished my first graduate workshop syllabus!! One syllabus down, and one more to go for next semester. The luxury of only teaching 2 classes is unbelievable. I've made 5 syllabi each semester for most of the last 9 years. I'll get to focus so much more on my students now.

I had an amazing first research trip for my fantasy retelling of Little Women. I visited the archives in the Houghton Library, Walden Pond (so peaceful I didn't want to leave), Alcott's house, and more!

When radioactivity was discovered, there was a rush to market for all sorts of radioactive consumer goods. There were water jugs made out of uranium glass, for example. I think about that a lot these days whenever I see AI products being marketed to consumers.

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining the English department of Bowling Green State University (Ohio) as an Associate Professor in their BFA and MFA in creative writing. I'll miss my ONU students and colleagues, but I'm SO excited for this new adventure!
