#FossilFriday flashback: My lab published two major papers this month on 1) dental functional morphology and 2) vertebrate paleontology & paleobiogeography. It made me so proud of the research teams I've been a part of over the past decade, but it also prompted reflection on my academic path (🧵1/5)

Finally, I want to say: If you are neurodivergent in biology, you are not alone. You are not "a problem," "less of a scientist," or a "burden" because you are neurodivergent. You just operate differently and may need support, and that is ok.
Grateful to have worked with such a wonderful group of people on this publication! Getting my OCD diagnosis in the midst of grad school came with a lot of complex emotions, but more than anything, I’m thankful for the connections it’s brought me, as well as the improved understanding of myself
I am beyond excited to share that our paper, "Neurodivergent Perceptions, Experiences, and Perspectives in Academic Biological Sciences Spaces" has been published! A 🧵incoming because this paper is so special to me and the co-authors. doi.org/10.1093/icb/...
Happy #JMIH26! 🥳 Excited to be in New Orleans presenting some of my dissertation work! Stop by Grand Chenier tomorrow at 3:45pm to learn about the impacts of intermittent damming on steelhead cranial morphology 🐟
Excited to share the first paper from my PhD! We looked at what traits help Aneides salamanders excel at climbing using museum specimens, CT scans, SEM, and more! No claws or toe pads, so how do they do it? In short, with long limbs, big feet and grippy toes! 🦎🧪 DM for PDF doi.org/10.1098/rspb...
I have gotten several notifications that people are signing up for BlueSky using this! Happy to see it gaining some traction! go.bsky.app/8zZNEGV
Arguably my most important contribution to #JMIH25 this year: Team Shark, Herp, and Fish pins! Open to suggestions of what species to include next year 🦎🐠🐍🦈
For people that asked, the amazing @jrgalvez.bsky.social is the one that gave me this pin yesterday 🥰. Thank you!!! Follow her for some awesome science! #JMIH25 #AES25 🐟
Calling all #JMIH25 attendees! I'm excited to present some of my dissertation work investigating morphological variation in dam-impacted trout 🐟 Hope to see you this morning at 11 in Ballroom E!
