You can't make someone learn something that their job depends on them not knowing. Establishment Dems are never going to suddenly realize that left-wing policies win elections, because they are capitalists who would rather lose than give up the class system they're addicted to

Fun Fact: The so-called "Flour Riot" of 1837 broke out after food prices rose 200%-300%. Working people got together and simply took what they rightly deserved, sometimes even leaving fair payment. These days, we have to knock out Flock cameras first (deflock.org) and wear black bloc.

hey so the price of food is literally not sustainable. i plan every grocery purchase and week after week i buy LESS and pay the same if not more. wtf are we supposed to do 😭

THREAD. After years of litigating against New York prosecutors and judges, we just won a landmark First Amendment case in the federal appeals court. The case could expose the secretive world that protects prosecutors when they break the law. But something deeper is going on.

It's not about one US Senate seat. It's about all of us together. It's about a belief that we can take our government back from the very people who want to monetize us at every turn. The fomentors of inequality. The drivers of war and genocide and apartheid. We get to decide.

New: We found 50 cops who misused Flock cameras and other license-plate readers for personal purposes, often to spy on their girlfriends or ex-wives. He "watched every single move I made. ... Who do you turn the chief of police in to?" wapo.st/3S6rTuo

She left her ex. He secretly tracked her through a network of policing cameras.

Flock’s array of license-plate cameras was built to fight crime. But at least 50 law enforcement officers were charged with or accused of misusing it and other systems.

there are a lot of philosophical concepts that get egregiously misused out of the seminar room (and in the seminar room, to be fair). but in terms of sheer pernicious misuse "social construct" has gotta be top 5 somewhere and it's not number 5

"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."

Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington

I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities

I have a special love of research that studies "Hey, what if people lie on surveys?" For one, it tends to be good science that I wish more survey writers and survey readers would familiarize themselves with. For another, it makes me like people more because they're having fun and being subversive.

A study shows fewer people sincerely believe wild conspiracy theories than surveys suggest, as many who endorse bizarre or contradictory claims answer insincerely www.bps.org.uk/research-dig...

An Economist/YouGov poll found 49% of Americans want the US to arrest Netanyahu & only 27% oppose. (23% unsure). Arresting Netanyahu is both right AND popular. Mayor Mamdani gets that. 2/2
