Back in Obergurgl for my yearly high alpine animal ecology course, as always the highlight of my teaching year 💪🏻⛰️🕷️🪱
This week we retrieved the woodsticks for #SoilBON sampling from our high alpine sites. At 3000 and 2500 m they were easy to find and were still quite intact, so obviously a very slow decomposition. @soilbon.bsky.social @euracalpenv.bsky.social
Field work half-time for #BEN-EAF! ⛰️ We took #SoilFauna samples, and heat-extract them in the soil lab at @hutton.ac.uk. Mainly springtails & mites! Also: we got ground beetles, wolf spiders, and harvestmen from pitfall traps. 🕷️🪲 Thanks again to Andrea Britton and Debbie Fielding for the help!
