In the Netherlands, they also don't have the resources to specify anything well after getting funding. Few trials have budget for a trial statistician. A scandal that would be unpopular to write about in the press. In the trial landscape, pharma are the good guys, academics are the bad guys.

Sponsors of academic, investigator-led trials do not have the resources to fully specify every single aspect of a trial for a grant application, especially when there is such a high chance that the application will be rejected on the advice of a novice anyway.

I wonder if people dismiss these warnings because they implicitly assume that if these vehicles were really *that* dangerous, then obviously government would regulate them appropriately.

Many Labs 5 was such a cool project. Authors who argued that a study from the Reproducibility Project: Psychology was 'too different', leading to a null result, could propose their own replication. Mostly null results again. Blaming auxiliaries is easy. Replication is hard.
