In this day and age, living in a place that - you like, - you can afford, - you can find a job, - you have family/friends, - you feel safe, and - you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes. So maybe don’t be an asshole.

Demanding that people go back to the office five days a week has been shown to punish staff who are lower-income, parents, and disabled. It is also not necessary for reporters and journalists who do much of their work in the field, on the phone, or on laptop computers that can be used anywhere.

Lots of people emailing me rn to share their concerns about this distressing incident and are thanking me for writing it, but are then being racist themselves towards the security guards. In case it wasn't already clear, no form of racism is welcome nor will it be co-signed by me.
