It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

The anatomy of an AI-supported academic article is becoming more apparent. I desk reviewed ~70 manuscripts this week for our journal. Reckon 20ish had significant AI assistance. On top of hundreds of others recently I'm starting to see patterns. Are other editors are seeing the same or similar? 1/

90% of the summer so far is opening and closing windows and shutters strategically at varying points of the days and nights to manage the crazy heat. Today, a little bat found shelter during the day between the wall & a wooden shutter so we let them stay there. #bat #heatwave

Ten days of heat in Geneva, and then -- finally -- a cloud burst and a thunderstorm with some rain. I hope the hail didn't damage agricultural crops. If only this ice could be used to replenish our rapidly melting mountain glaciers. This summer is relentless: a mix of grief and fear for the future.

Any university should say: We are a knowledge-based organisation, prizing rigorous research and testing, and refusing to take anything for granted: especially claims from vested interests. We will conduct our own studies of the usefulness of AI in different contexts before making recommendations.

I’m reading another post about “I just wrote 10 papers and a grant and three books in a week with AI, academic work is over" and I’ll just say I’m still waiting to find the post from an academic that describes the time they spent happily **reading** AI-generated content vs spewing it out.
